Dear all I have previously posted this elsewhere. Thought my issue was resolved, sadly not so.
My CD5si plays some CD’s fine, however wont load/play others. It plays more CD’s than it doesnt! However overall it’s not well. If i’m persistent (loading a CD that wont play) I can get it to play eventually but invariably there will be skips on tracks.
Not being very technical cleaning the lens is as far as I’ve gone. The puck has been suggested as possibly needing replacement, but surely if puck works fine on most CD’s its not the issue. Also I understand that the 5si puck construction differs from other models and may not be the issue here.
Q is the issue (whatever it is) solvable by service/part replacement? Accepting that the player is 10 years all, yet still in production I assume parts would still be available.
Will obviously revert to dealer, juts curious in advance of that.
It may well indicate that the laser mech is starting to fail but the best course of action is to contact your Naim dealer to enquire after service/repair with Naim.
Hi - fyi some CD’s are thicker/thinner than others, a thinner CD may be slipping… try a small knob of blue tack under the puck then push it on to a slipping CD then test?
