2026 - F1 Season

Today I was less bored than other times.
And Max’s overtaking of Lewis made the GP worth watching.

So a couple of seconds of top drawer driving from Max provides the excitement as he overtakes Lewis, leaving the remaining 1 hour and 40 minutes a borefest?

If you reread my post, you’ll see I wrote that I was less bored today than other times, and this, imho, was referring to the entire GP.
Max’s overtaking move was the icing on the cake that made the GP unmissable (again, imho).

This photo was shot from the bridge. We rented a holiday home nearby so it was nice to walk on the venue. It’s a remarkably nice place.

Eau Rouge, just about the most iconic corner on any F1 track in the world.

Spa is wonderful, walked some of the circuit many many years ago when the Belgium GP tour package we were on included a ‘walk the track’ session if you paid a small extra charge, my mates and I paid enjoying about 90 minutes on the track, the whole area is fantastic.

Used to be a nice old fashioned Auberge with a couple of rooms above in town. Now it’s all swanky up market bars and hotels. Driven Spa in the rain, and a little snow sleet as well as one good bright day. Weather there is always unpredictable ,but it’s one of the classic circuits that you have to drive if your interested in track days or amateur racing.

One of the few tracks i have driven around. Around 33 or so years ago i was touring with my then girlfriend in her little red MX-5, whilst driving through Belgium and seeing the signs to the track, i followed the road. it was late afternoon and the gates were open and there seemed to be nobody around, so i arrived on the track just after turn 1, and thought while i was here i would do a quick circuit. Drove round fairly sedately, saw nobody and then left again.
