250 DR with white logo?

Did Naim ever release the 250 DR with a wite logo? I know they did with the 500 Series kit but haven’t seen a reference to any of the other OC kit with white logos?

Reason i’m asking is I currently have a 282 with an SN2 in Power Amp duties ans am looking at three possible options to replace the SN2

  1. NC NAC 250: I’ve been gcatching up on the NC range and the NAP 250 seems to get a lot of praise. So much so, i’ve bene wondering if it could be a good option to pair with my 282 and perhaps provide a gateway to a slimmed down NC system in the future.

  2. NAP 250 DR: I have the opportunity to buy a “new” 250 DR, although it is my understanding it has the white logo. This threw me at first, as I didn’t know there were any white logo versions made. It could look odd amongst all my green logo boxes (an NC NAP 250 even more) so, and make it difficult to re-sell, but woudl likely be one of the last 250DR’s ever made.

  3. Second hand 250 DR: The cheapest option and in many ways the neatest (although not necessarily the best?), but also the elusive option, as I can’t remember the last time a 250 DR came up for sale where I live.

Any feedback or insight into the above options or Naim ever making the 250 DR with a white logo would be much appreciated.

@ChrisNZ

I’ve never seen mention that the 250DR came out with the white logo option Chris

Maybe it was a special order

Bit strange I reckon

If you’re after a 250DR with the standard green logo

Maybe contact Harry York at Audio Genesis here in Sydney

He often trades in Naim gear and has been a Naim dealer for 40 years , he’s my dealer for 35 years plus

Lovely guy - if he doesn’t have one he might keep an eye out for one

AFAIK the logos are fairly easily changed (apart from on a NAP500) - maybe this was done specifically for a customer? Either way, it shouldn’t be too difficult to have it changed to a green logo, provided spares are still available.

@Richard.Dane Do you know if the 250DR with a white logo was a standard Naim offering, or would this have been a custom order/changed after it left Salisbury?

Logo changes in NZ might not be that easy - previous disitributors probably can’t get green logos and won’t work on new gear, and current distributors may not be able to carry out the work locally. Although I am open to correction on the latter.

I’m not aware of it being standard on the old 250DR, however, you would probably be best advised to contact Naim support with the serial number if you are concerned here.

I used a NC250 with a 282/HCDR for a year - apart from getting some Chord cables made up, it was painless and worked very well. Buy with confidence if you go down this route.

Thank you. I’m guessing the cable you need is a 4 pin DIN to 2 XLR? Looking at your profile i’m guessing you were impressed enough to make the full switch to New Classic. How do you find it compared to Old Classic? Differences? Improvements? Weaknesses etc.

I bought 2x 4pin DIN to XLR (L and R channels) to run from the HCDR to the 250.

To be honest the move to 332 from 282/HCDR was driven by wanting a complete NC system with minimal boxes and remote integration as opposed to any significant uplift in sound quality. I had the 333 already so source remained constant.

The 282 and NC250 worked brilliantly together - can’t say i enjoy music more with the 332, although perhaps its has slightly more clarity and is a bit more laid back and less upfront than the 282.

Thanks. It’s also good to know I would need 2 x Legacy cables 4 pin Din to XLR cables. I assumed it was only one (i.e. the same way the 282 would connect to a 250DR).

I had Chord make some Shawline cables up for me - make sure they are left and right handed.

So the Left and Right cables are different. That makes sense. Ordering via Chord might be difficult but I would hope that the local Naim distributor could help out.
