Thanks guys, another job , but it will be good to get it right for the final setup. Iāll probably keep the Olive SC at the bottom though, otherwise it might look a little odd.
So, if the 252 is above the NDX2, does the full Fraim shelf go with it?
On my system I use Roon and a Sonorebridge for the NDS, I also have a -5DB cut in the DSP which really helps at lower volumes.
Stacking is:
Left Side
LP12 on Wall shelf
Superline
252
space
300DR
CDX2
Lingo
NDac
Right side
NDS on wall shelf
Nakamichi CR7A
Supercap for Superline
Third party PS for 252 (will be replacing with another Supercap
300PS
Third park PS for NDS
Unitiserve SSD / Hicap (for headline)
XPS DR for NDac
So far OK apart from transformer hum, which is really not that bad and also I need to lift the XPS DR to NDac burndy off the ground as both units are at the bottom. Will work this out on next cable tidy and clean session.
Driven by cable dressing more than anything else. When I purchased a Fraim a couple of years back my dealer was happy to retain the stacking order. Sounds really good to me - and I cannot be bothered to haul 15kg boxes in and out and faff around with burndies, etc. to find out whether it could be better.
Interesting, this stackingā¦
I have a single Fraim (much as Iād like a brain/brawn itās not going to happen, my wifeās orders understandably - hifi and records already dominate the living room).
My levels are:
(LP12 on wall shelf)
252
Superline & HPA
CD2
250
SCDR
SC2
I thought I read somewhere here that the SuperCaps would be better on the bottom levels due to transformer size. The 250 is the bigger transformer, then? Hmmā¦may have a reshuffle, see if thereās any benefit.
Let me know. Iām pretty sure I read somewhere that the Fraim shelf height is designed to provide the correct amount of electrical isolation. I know that many swear by the brain/brawn thing - and if I had a box count that demanded that then it seems the logical way to go - but a few years back I had an electrician or network guy in (cannot remember which or why) and he had a device that measured the electrical ānoiseā produced by a device. Out of curiosity I asked him to run it over the PSās and the 250 and all three registered zero - and one was in humming mode at the time.
Dear Max
I do many thank for your long answer and I on the contrary I don t consider it a sermon at all but precious experience sharing.
My story is a little bit complicated I m a classic rock lover, felt in love for Tom waits and an ignorant jazz listener
Because of my job I move in al Cairo for next years, waiting to my sn3, naim dac with teddy xps and atc 19 speakers.
I do not plan any change in my source and in my speaker as well, as you told me before I consider amplifier the focal point of my hi Fi. Moving from sn to pre/amp combo is a huge investment and I m thinking what could me my target and how achieve it. The fastest way could be move to 282 or 252 with a teddy psu and 250amp. I donāt plan to move to 300 because of the economic gap to cover. Next move could be the super cap dr. In this context I have 1 doubt, would be the 250 the limiting factor for 252 or it could remain a satisfying option?
Thanks a lot
Same here wonderful combination maybe in time a 300dr but they are very expensive. For the foreseeable future very happy with 252 supercap dr 250 dr cds3 xps two fraims
Personally, I donāt understand why respecting the wishes of the host of the forum is difficult, even if one feels it is a gray area. But I am not the forum police, itās up to you. Just saying that in the past Richard removed posts that mentioned them or even warned against using such PSes
Dear Suedkiez
I mentioned what I own and the upgrade plan without discussing, advertising or feeding any opinion on these component anyhow feel free to keep debating on it, I wonāt come back to furtherly
All the best
