282 hi cap supernait help

Hi all

Need to help/guidance please. Just purchased a 282, linked to HCDR, supernait. All connected correctly.

Have placed supernait in power mode. Have two different remotes (one SN, one 282)

Plays lovely.

However if I try and use either remote, I get terrible interference.

What am I doing wrong please?

Advice help really appreciated

Thanks

Long shot, but what happens if you take the batteries out of one of the remotes and use the other?

Same.

Volume is fine if move by hand.

Not if use remote. Sound is awful

Like this?

Well by hand is fine. Just by remote that’s the issue.

But yes awful screeching noise via speakers.

This has gone from bad to worse.

Disconnected 282 and taken back to SN/HCDR. Unstacked, restacked fraimlite and reconnected all connections.

No more screeching noise. But every time the remote is used and or a source is operated the mute on SN comes on intermittently.

Suspect it’s a trip to naim, something has gone wrong.

Any ideas most welcome

I’d get it back to just the SN on its own (no HC and put link plug back in) and then start again from there.

Thanks James

Just done that. Use remote mute comes on intermittently. Same if open cd drawer.

Only option I think dealer, then naim

Have you got any sources plugged in when it’s doing this ?

If so, does it still mute intermittently when using the remote if you unplug all of the sources and just have the bare SN ?

If it works ok with nothing else plugged in then try reconnecting the sources, one by one until the problem occurs.

If you still have the issue with nothing connected then it does sound like a visit to the dealer.

So without any source, no mute issue. Volume via remote is initially very sluggish (have tried new batteries)

I suspect something to do with the volume pot has occurred. Mute comes because signal from volume to sources is inconsistent.

So it’s not sources, hicap. So must be supernait needs TLC

I’m just wondering if it’s an issue with one of your sources (possibly one of them trying to find a ground path via your SN) hence the suggestion to try a source at a time to see if the mute issue comes back, particularly as it doesn’t happen with no source connected.

Good luck anyway and i’ll be interested in what you find.

Completely stuck in mute mode now it seems.

Let’s say what naim say. Maybe useful for others

Yes, that doesn’t sound good. Fingers crossed it’s an easy fix.

Due a service anyway-so silver lining
