The reviewer uses ‘Mullet’ when he means ‘Monkfish’…
That is because he is not a proper Naim nerd!
Seems he thinks its a rather great bit of kit with the 2x P/S. I agree
Nothing I have heard has captivated me like a Naim source. Long term 365 day a year addiction to listening to music type captivation. I have heard lots of impressive systems but I have an addiction to the Naim sound I guess.
Naim pedants of the world unite!
There should be a Dcs comperison in that review
Especially when the rossini and clock cost quite a bit less
Not that i will buy a Dcs but maybe I was hoping to hear that nd555/2PS was better than Rossini+clock or vivaldi :))
Just a fan boy dream
Not to my ears its not, or i would have gone down this road
It’s a review of one product not a Bake Off between multiple manufacturers units…
Do you think a review including a comparison of similar price point competitor items is a “ Bake off”?
So a group tests in various magazines, in youtube of cars, coffe machines, hifi products etc are “ bake off between manufacturers units”?
You are confusing between a “review” and PR announcement.
Hi all … around 3 weeks now… burn in process going well … stereo depth seems to have moved on and is getting deeper…bass is beggining to really tighten right up…which is brilliant. My room sometimes can get agitated…at around 60hz … but as the bass is so much tighter and tuneful it seems to have reduced this … which is fantastic… timing and groove factor is really excellent…I am wondering how much more this can give…
Gobsmacked that there is so much information …in 16bit flac… enjoying all my flacs…
Yup, nearly 40 years after the CD was invented, we finally have the means to hear how good 16 bit can sound.
And it’s fantastic
That’s exactly it.
Adding a second power supply adds the details and transparency some other DACs provide while keeping the cohesion and timing accuracy that characterizes Naim sources.
All in all, it is a very expensive source. But a really good one!
Little update … wow still improving bass has great depth guitar strokes … especially in the bass region are amazing… bit more depth apparent as well the overall change to system is quite profound when you take into account the other aspects I have previously commented on… this has been a superb upgrade… Any body thinking about adding a second supply… funds permitting of course… just do it…
For anyone who may have missed it, it iooks like the ND555 with double 555PS has won the Hifi+ 2020 Awards Product of The Year;
Congratulations (again) to all. Very well deserved…
When i look back at the launch it was thrown into various demos and for me was…meh, maybe. But with the right system, set up, it is something else…another psu is just wonderful for me.
Congrats to naim on this, totally deserved. I was never a fan of streaming but after a week with a ND555 I can see what it is all about. To think the 2nd PS moves the game on blows my tiny mind …
