2x555DR vs. 1x555DR on a ND555

I am going to get this one good enough, not expensive and not too much risky

That is what I use - a version of that anyway.

No doubt some blocks are better but you should hear those first and the basic good HiFi block will be a big boost - I used to use a domestic plastic block too until I tried a good HiFi block and it was silly-better in terms of clarity and removal of smearing noise I particularly do not like.

I follow after you, it is very clear to me, no need for other expensive blocks right now, maybe in the future

Yes, I think this is a tricky one. I’ve measured noise with and without the filter power blocks with the system connected. On my main system noise went from between a maximum of 100 to 80, down to 20. In my second system, it went from 60 to 0. So obviously mains noise has been reduced entering the system,

Did it sound different with the systems connected? Yes, more focus around sounds and a lower noise floor immediately. Timing was a little off to start with, but went back to normal after a 4 day burn in.

That “bad ass” Californian guy speaks about how removing mains noise is really important in his video review of IsoTek filters. It has to be done well so that noise is removed without compromising dynamics. So, demo’s is vital.

I’ve since added a Superlumina interconnect and a Powerline and improved my network switches and cabling, so it becomes harder to pin overall improvements down to individual steps and I’m not one to keep swapping everything in and out.

Yes, great decision I think. Please let us know what effect it has.

I cant listen need first to buy..we dont have it in our country

All my PSs start to hum after 20:00, it is not a constant one but comes and goes with regular 5 second break and 2 second hum

İt is quite High noise and destroying my evening joy

@Mike_S do you think an isotek evo3 sirus can solve my problem?

That usually happens when someone applies a heavy current load that uses one of the mains phases that your house is also on - some commercial plant or such. Naim stuff hums when there is a DC offset between the mains Live and Neutral return; that DC can be produced not so much by a DC leakage offset but by severe waveform distortion that is being presented at your house by someone else biting into it for high current.

The exact time implies a timed circuit - such as a heating boiler if it happens regularly more in winter.
Once I had an old boiler (many years ago past now) that did this a bit - I fixed the boiler by adding a suppressor at the boiler supply input circuit so it did not distort the mains - but I had access to it do do that; I now have a better device.

Anything that removes that offset will remove the hum or buzz.

It used to happen here - from outside my control - fortunately it stopped a year or so back - unknown culprit moved-on or replaced their noisy mains device.

I have similar effect than Emrei. During the night my 555 dr is humming. Less than before when I had less quality powerblock.
After 7 am, it stops humming. There must be a link with the area activity. Neighbors, schools, shops…wake up after 7 am. The 555 dr stops humming.

Hi FR,
Just wait until we all start fast charging our electric cars!!!

The strange thing is that the ps is humming when all are sleeping. Not when all are wake up.

Indeed, that is when the electricity companies want us to charge our cars.

I am not against. My 555 dr would stop humming. :sunglasses:

I couldn’t say really, sorry, but IsoTek do usually run a try and return policy.

My mains issues wasn’t an audible sound through the system as such. It was measurable on a meter, and once removed it lowered the noise floor and lifted the clarity and focus of the music. Effectively the mains noise was slightly masking the music.

My transformers hum occasionally, though not a level to be a nuisance. It does fluctuate, no doubt due to appliances in the house or from neighboring heavy loads.

All fine FR. Our 555PS hummed like a bee hive, even on a dedicated radial. It took the balanced power supply to quieten it down.

Fortunately, the system’s musical performance improved at the same time, as all those Naim power supplies could finally work to their full potential without the transformers saturating.

Best regards, BF

The powerline to the block definitely put the icing on the cake, but that’s so many years ago now…

What is the change?

We need a drum roll - waiting in anticipation.
