3.12 Firmware

I haven’t factory reset my Nova since installing 3.12 and have gain normalisation in the app.

It sounds way better than anything I’ve ever heard before, but then my system has improved a lot since 3.8 so that’s not a comparison of firmware versions.

Also, I’m tending to play a bit louder than I normally do, partly because it sounds so great, and partly because I’m listening less in the middle of the night and more when there’s no one trying to sleep in the house.

This concert just sounds so real:

3.12 has improved greatly since I installed it a couple of weeks ago.

Copying this over from a related thread for those looking for another rabbit hole…

I have the Omega X Ethernet into my ND555. It replaced a ChordMusic Ethernet, which surprised me as the Chord was part of a full loom of ChordMusic including interconnects, mains and some other cabling. The Shunyata was clearly better to my ears, I definitely didn’t really want it to be. More resolution, but also better resolution in that instrument timbre was better, better separation and a deeper view into the mix. 3.12 sounds great!

I have exactly the same problem! Currently exchanging daily emails with support trying endless permutations/formating/resets etc .

Must credit Support agent who is trying to sort it out. Having just had a new CD drive installed for over £500, I’m pretty fed up!

A suggested fix was to format a “new” music store, then try to Rip to that, which should clear the problem when ripping to the original music store. Unfortunately this highlighted another problem…..formatting a new music store failing. So at the moment I can’t rip CDs or create a music store ( need to do this to make a backup of my “master” music store.

The Shunyata is also cheaper too. Maybe the Sigma X is also better.

@drago have you tried the new firmware?

Hi @Stu299
See here

I took a step back and still think that my decision is best, not to post anything about my thoughts on the new firmware (see above).
One thought only (only a thought as you might ask yourself update or not). 3.8 is a very faint memory, so it should be difficult to compare 3.8 vs. 3.12.

It’s a secret, but he is on 3.14. Naim made it specially for him, to indulge him. Naim had mercy for him.

One question @drago , are you now enjoying your nd555 more than your nds?

No thoughts on FW, sorry - drago out
See my post 3 weeks ago…
Maybe I will post (in another thread) some thoughts on a lovely cable I bought

If you agree of course, would it be possible to make a connection so we can discuss outside of the forum. I beleive @Richard.Dane can arrange this if both parties agree.

Does anybody know when the new firmware for the NC models will be released?

The ETD is June.

Yes, you’re right, the Shunyata Omega X is cheaper than ChordMusic streaming cable, unfortunately for me, I already owned the ChordMusic. The Omega was such a clear step up, even within an otherwise all Chord loom, that I had to buy it. The ChordMusic has other duties now, my ND555 preferred the Shunyata. I personally wasn’t as impressed with the Sigma, to me it was similar to ChordMusic in performance. But they’re all good cables.

I spend a lot of time listening to Paradise, as many of us do. Since 3.12 firmware update, channel access is much quicker, no more long drops outs but the most pleasing aspect is that, Paradise sounds so much better now: weightier, more dynamic & just more pleasing to my ears.

Same here and agree!

Do you both use the FLAC version, as I only discovered there are two different streams recently?

I absolutely love the both Main Mix and the Mellow Mix. One or the other is on for most of the day when I WFH.
