300 series stacking order

I’ve just bought two ex-demo NPX300 power supplies for my 300 series system and need to rearrange my rack. I want to check what the consensus is on stacking order.
This is what I’m planning (from top to bottom);

NSS333
NAC332
NPX300
NPX300
NAP350
NAP350

Is this the accepted wisdom?

Personally, I would put the two PSUs at the very bottom and the amps above, assuming you have a single stack rack. I think I would also swap the order of the 332 and 333.

IOW:

332
333
350
350
300
300

I agree with this too. PS’s at bottom, pre at top.

Personally I put power amps the furthest away from preamps and sources because they have fluctuating current draws and therefore the impact of the transformer is also fluctuating. Whereas power supplies like the NPX300 are stable constant draws.

Well, he can try both and see which sounds better. If he can’t tell, then it doesn’t really matter does it, in which case just roll the dice.

I am having my 222 replaced with a 332 and 333, also getting an extra 300 today. Once my dealer has installed this I will let people know what they do. The only thing I am certain of is that the LP12 will be on the top shelf.

Not the 300 NC series but my dealer set my system up as follows;

222
250
300

Which supports putting the power supplies at the bottom of the stack, albeit in a smaller system.

  • Power Supllies as low as possible
  • Power Amps above
  • The Rest above that

Is the Accepted Wisdom…

Enjoy…!

With 6 boxes, 2 stack Fraim could be nice and nice looking

I agree, two racks would be ideal. However, my rack fits snugly in the alcove to the left of the chimney breast. It’s a small room and there isn’t really any other practical place it can go.

I now have the following stacking order:
LP12
333
332
250
300
300

and on the half-size stack
NVC TT
Lingo4
NPX TT

A pic will soon be on system pics 24
