I’ve been demoing the 332 preamp since last Saturday . Have to say I’m blown away and really fallen in love with this piece of kit.
I’ve never experienced such a together and sorted sound I’m getting .The 332 is on its own no power supply added.
If I’m honest I was worried that the sound would be great but possible leaving a hankering for more ,and might be a bit light weight sounding . But my thoughts at the moment are , how could there be more …
I would describe it as weighty sounding and extremely insightful. One thing that is blowing my mind is that I am hearing every snare drum hit differently ,hearing the different power and nature of each strike so clearly .
Not sure if I can live without this now .
Yes the connection options are fabulous , I’ve not even brushed the balanced aspect yet which my Xover can utilise. And the ADSM3 is just hooked up RCA , not tried the balanced in there .And still a din input for CDi Hiline …
Having gladly swapped out my lovely 52/300dr for the wonderful nait 50, I can’t help wondering just how good the NC equipment might be. I’m sure in the fullness of time I’ll have to give the 332 (without an external psu) a try and might keep my 300 in storage for the occasion.
Full 300 system here without power supplies.
I was stunned by how good they are since the first power up. Great sound, super easy to use and with the addition of XLR input and output you have the flexibility to add whatever equipment you want to your system. Really happy.
Yes was really impressed with the 332 preamp . I only ever got to 52 level on the preamps ,a bleeding good preamp , but after having a few , found variable sound ,good uns and ones that did not blow me away .
This is in another league and what I would describe as complete . Listening to it I get no hint or feeling" I could do with a wee bit more of this or that " ( wee = little or small).
I did worry that I might squeeze a bit more out of it with a Powerline ,and this might niggle me,so it’s starting life with it .
Just a thought …I notice many folk moving to Linn preamp/ streamers with Naim Power amps . I am moving the other way .
I just want to say after living with a LinnAkurate DSM3 with Utopik power supply …no slouch …I eventually ( and it’s taken months ,many months) felt there is a issue on synergy . I bought the linn because I felt it bettered the Naim pre at the time .The 332 in one one swipe removed all these feelings . My bass on the Keltiks which needs control as its mighty, there was just something going wrong ,no matter what I tried . Bringing my old 82 supercap into play
showed me it was potentially a synergy issue. The 332 takes that so much further.
Folks I think I’m there…
Akurate DSM3 still used as streamer which is where it’s strength is .
Congratulations @Keltik ! It is certainly very interesting to read your experiences. One of the things I had at the back of my mind when selecting the 350s to go with my Selekt DSM is that it would always allow me to add in a 332 at some point in the future if I ever felt the need to. I really don’t right now, but I have the option if I ever feel the need or see a good deal.
Was that NSC222 with NPX300 power supply? I often wonder how much better a bare 332 would be over an NSC222/NPX300 given the price difference of some £5-6k I’m guessing?
Yes, I already had the NPX300. It made a big difference to the NSC222, opened it out, improved the bass. I do wonder how 332/350 would be compared with my 332/300/250.
After purchasing my 332 in September 2023, I did my second NC demo to determine my amplification change in January 2024, (to replace my NAP250DR) - I made that exact comparison.
At the time, the cost difference between adding the NPX300 ps with a NC250 against the 350’s was about £600 more for the mono’s. Even without the power supply, the 350’s clearly sounded a better option and I have been enjoying them ever since!
