Good morning thinking of buying 350 amps currently using 552/300 connected with chord epic x the 350 are balanced so I assume I will not be able to use them, anyone had the same issue
Am sure your Naim dealer can guide you towards the correct leads which Naim offer for this combination…
(there is a list of these Naim leads, but I cannot locate it)
You can use them together happily. The leads you need are these.
Details of the various leads to connect Classic and New Classic are in the FAQs here:
I assume here that the 350s would be new, so £13K.
From a brief look at eBay, it seems that a 300 can be sold for £3k (not DR and not serviced) to nearly £5K (recent mint DR).
However, it also seems that a serviced 500DR can be had for around £10K, while older non-DR 500s fetch more like half that.
I believe that the 350s are considerable better than a 300 (including my 300DR). However, few (not none) regard them as better than a 500DR: different’ seems to get said more often.
NC replacements for the 552 & 500 are apparently some years away because the new product will have to be (to Naim ears) clearly better than the current OC models (whether re-badged to look a bit more NC or not). To no-one’s surprise, producing such a product seems to be something of a challenge.
You could find a dealer with 350 and 552/500 in stock and just be honest with them about what you want from a dem - unless the 552/350 combo is clearly better than 552/500DR, you’ll be shopping for a s/h 500DR, but they get a big sale if the 350s are (to your ears) clearly better.
My bet is that the dealer won’t make a sale this time, but I have been wrong before, and at least this way you’ll know you have spent enough money to buy a car as well as you possibly can.
The OP already has a 552… so could take that along, I guess…?
If buying 350’s, the required ‘special’ lead should… IMO… be …provided.
