No eklipse
If you are getting so much vibrations in the floor, that you need this, and it makes that much difference, as after all the naim power cable is already decoupled then wouldn’t you be better spending the money on getting rid of the vibrations from entering the floor in the first case, rather than trying to deal with the effects? As if its that bad then its going up your rack into the boxes as well.
Its a bit like fixing the damaged ceiling when the roof is leaking
The Eklipse has quite a stunning look and does convey some further sonic improvements, but may depend on where your Lp12 sits ie on a wall shelf or on top of a fraim.
Charlie - when I replied earlier I didn’t understand you were referring to the eklipse so sorry for my misleading answer. I am not considering any more changes now. My LP12 sits on the top of a rack of fraim, the floor is stone tiles on (I think) bitumen, so very solid indeed - which of course doesn’t necessarily mean that there aren’t any vibrations affecting things
I had an opportunity to buy a used simplinth with top and bottom TA plates already fitted. Sadly the bottom one doesn’t work with urika so need to get a newer one - fortunately I managed to get a used one at a useful discount from new, but it has already spiralled more than I intended what with picking up a used ekos 2se at more or less the same time
@TimOopNorth
I am sure you will be very pleased once you get your Lp 12 back. Is Peter doing the fettling I suppose. As said I was always curious if it’s possible to combine a wooden plinth with some of the tangerine stuff. It’s just that the Skorpion has so many bolts and maybe need different ones that will work with wood. The simplinths are really beautiful. Did you have a record player before of are you heading off into uncharted territory now …?
Not Peter - Chris Brooks who is about 120 miles nearer here.
I have had the LP12 for nearly 27 years now. Did very little to it to start with - Peter did a bit of a fettle 11 years ago, but in last few years I haven’t been happy with its performance. Keel, Karousel, urika 1, Kandid, fancy radikal all added last year. Now pleased with it
Hi Peter - how long roughly will the xlr’s take to run in? I know I am only 6 days in but there is a bit of an unpleasant edge to the sound. Someone used the word clinical, I think, and that isn’t exactly how I would describe it but not quite sure how I would describe it!
Hi Tim, they are a strange old thing. They sound good the 1st hour, then they go tizzy for a couple of weeks. They’ll come good good, and keep feeding even a low level musical signal through them You will get there Best Peter
Thanks Peter. Appreciate it. They immediately brought a very significant improvement - a real delicacy they was not there before. But have since developed a bit of a harsh / sharp edge. Have been listening quite a bit this week and at times have been wondering if I should go back (not helped by a bit of electrical interference from washing machine which will I daresay stay until I can get the new spur installed).
Also missing the lp12 - had a day off work on Tuesday and really felt like playing a bit of vinyl, but it will be a week or two before it returns. Very keen to see what the end result is like
Rest assured you’ll find yourself in Heaven Best Peter
I found the DIN to XLR leads probably took the longest of all the SL leads in my full loom to settle down about four to six weeks from memory (it was a while back now) but once there you should be very happy with the upgrade. One thing though do try to keep them off the floor, a simple loop can help to achieve this if needed.
Really need to start checking out greenhouses
Gosh, you haven’t done that yet!?
Well you know. No rush and all that
Pleased to report that the unpleasant edge has fallen off today - Oscar Peterson sounding rather excellent. Maybe just a temporary blip but a very welcome promise of what is to come
There is a greenhouse brochure in her hands
That 15% off will pay for 2nd ps.
Mate, if you are dreaming of a S1, you’ll need a bigger greenhouse than that!
I almost spat my drink out laughing…you bad boy😁
