That is exactly the quality I now look for. The 552 took me some way towards ‘decluttering’ densely mixed tracks, as did the ND555, but my tough little 250DR can’t quite keep up.

The 250 is great gutsy amp…but ultimately it has its limitations…the 500dr is a terrific upgrade when I changed mine I could tell the difference within 3 bars of the music playing…

Yes, I guess this is what it is all about: the ability to deal with details, scale and microdynamics within complexe music. This 500DR really excels at that!
Interestingly, my listening habits changed when jumping from SN2/HiCapDR to 252DR/300DR and finally to 552DR/500DR.
I used to listen to symphonies with headphones, it was better in every aspect except for soundstage of course.
The 552DR/500DR radically changed the deal. Love it!
