The lights on my 552 are not lighting up (the volume/balance and inputs) and the remote is not moving the volume. (The Naim label wedge is lit up and it plays fine.)
I have powered down and tried pressing the display on the remote but nothing doing….
It was working fine, it is possible I pressed the display button on the remote by mistake just odd that the lights are out at the same time the remote is not working
Gary - With the 552 powered down, check the SNAIC5 cable between the 552 PS and head unit is ok. Unplug at each end then plug back in. How old is the 552 ?
It’s an early version but was DR’d and serviced c3 years ago by Naim.
I did do a rebuild at the weekend and then had a power cut when I was at work ergo a forced switch off…. But it was ok after both those events and still plays fine. Just remote not working and no lights
As James advises, check the SNAIC 5 between the NAC552 and 552PS. But just be sure you only do this when it’s powered down. Could be a good to just undo and then remake both the SNAIC and the Burndy connection. If no joy, try substituting the SNAIC with another one.
If the remote is a Flash, it’s worth remembering that you need to snap the last battery in really quickly, otherwise it may well not work. Of course, it may be the wire….
To test if the remote is working, load up your camera on your phone, point the remote at it, while looking at the screen press any button on the remote.
The ir bit on the remote will flash, your camera phone will pick this up (eyes alone don’t)
If there’s no flashing then it’s new remote time/batteries
If not, IIRC there’s a way to reset via the front panel buttons that was explained by @NeilS where there was similar issue on a 252;
Switch your power amp(s) off & wait for them to discharge. Switch your preamp power supply off, switch the preamp supply back on with source mute on the (552) held down. This will reset the (552) back to default.
I think my 552 has some issues, in edition to no lights except the Naim wedge and remote not working I played some vinyl last night and it sounded broken, really muffled.
