Adding 135 to olive system - the next step

Hey, do not go against my 52

That’s totally true. It is too bad that we lost the recapping option of the 52 here in Germany. Due to the dual Platine layout, our specialists here decided it is too risky because of possible damage. That’s fine, because it is damage I which I definitely do not want.

Is there still a recapping option for 52 in Uk?

My 72 is from 89 without any recapping …

UK Service option for your 52 is Salisbury HQ or Class A in Sheffield.

One of my 72s is an early type from 1991 and which still sounds fine even though it’s never had a service, the only obvious fault being some crackle when using the volume control.
I do intend to get it serviced one day

One day I will send it to uk… I will … but currently I love it ever without service.
It has been fully checked and is pots 8. but no recapping since 1995.

Hi drago,
In that case, sorry that you are unable to have it serviced in Germany. Naim Service Dept. and Class A (in Sheffield) will happily service a NAC52 and after 25 years, it will absolutely need it.

Those little tantalum bead capacitors are musical wonders in a Naim pre-amp but they do degrade over time. It isn’t just the big electrolytic capacitors in the mains power supplies that age.

If you possibly can, I recommend that you try and have your NAC52 serviced by Naim in the UK or by Class A in Sheffield.

Best regards, BF

Thank you very much.
When everything is a little normal again in the world (can this please be tomorrow), I will ask Naim Germany (they are very nice) to send it to uk.

By the way:
I made the deal today for the fresh recapped 2002 pair of 135

Great amps, you’ll get much musical joy from them.

Yeah - hope so.
I am a little afraid that there will be less bass, but how could I see if not with testing.
My room with plasterbord walls is difficult for the SBL - damn fast but less bass…
Nevertheless - all recent updates have brought bass, not taken them.

The 135 arrived yesterday.
Out of the box the first impression was a clearly diffefferent sound. Connection was no problem thanks to your help.

I heard a bit and made all the a to b comparison as well with my 250. my 250 is 2 years from recapping and fine run-in.
The 135 have more power and the mids are more present - namish I name it. They sounded more live. But when directly compared the 250 had also some smoothness, which was even a bit better in A very few songs.
The 135 is more detailed and is getting the music forward. And out of the box it was A Bit harsh. I think will get better day by day as I know how much warm up is effective at Naim components, also it will get better day by day as it needs to run in. Pre owner had not used it much after service.

One question from a German guy  what does PRAT mean. I thought yesterday when Hearing the 135… yeah they have prat… but what s prat by d3finition

Looking forward for more hearing sessions.

Exactly : peace, rythm and time focusing

135 nice and will go well I should think.
If you keep your 250, then look out for a snaxo as active sbl’s are much better than passive.
But I would get the newer snaxo over the older olive one, bang the 135’s on the treble and the 250 on the bass, that will be a much bigger upgrade than the 250 to 135 move.
But then that also opens the door for 4 x 135, and the box count goes mad along with all the other stuff you need, and with that it opens the door to other ways to reach the goal.
But for now enjoy the 135 and keep them standard naim
