Adding a NAP 250 to my system

Hello I’m new here.
I own a Supernait 2 with an Hi-Cap Olive connected to my speakers B&W 702 S3 Signature.
I can get a NAP 250 Olive for a good price but I don’t know if this will add anything better to my system.

It will undoubtedly do something but the question is will you like it?! I don’t know your speakers but would imagine they’d like the extra power so if the price is good you’ve probably little to lose. Presumably you’re not able to trial at home? Bear in mind you’ll need an extra shelf.

Prior to my current system i had a Supernait 2. Of all the things i tried with it, by far the best was a Hi-Cap DR. If you really want a radical improvement i would go with a Hi-Cap DR first. Then a Nac 282. That maybe all you ever need…other than sell the supernait and get a Nap 250 DR

If you want to get tbe 250 Olive and you have an Olive HiCap, how about an 82 preamp and sell the Supernait 2. An 82 HiCap 250 will outperform a Supernait 2 with Hicap Olive.

Note that Naim Olive boxes need servicing every 10 years. You can get away with every 15 for an 82.

Of course if you keep the Supernait 2 adding the 250 will give you more power.

@kitfit1 makes a good point about going for DR kit with 282 HiCapDR and 250DR, which is the more modern set up of my suggestion.

Thank you kitfit1. I actually followed your idea and I’m very excited. Found a second hand NAC 282 and a 250 and second Hi-Cap. Waiting to set it up. I will sell then my Supernait 2. Thanks again.

Hi, the 282 should come with a napsc included - it won’t work without it.

Are you intending to run the 282 with 2 hicaps? In which case check you have the correct number of snaic 4 and 5 cables to set it up. If one hicap is olive and the other is “classic” (and DR) you should read threads here about the best way to connect them as they will power different parts of the 282, and I suspect the olive should be the second hicap not the primary.
