Probably coincidental , but shortly afterwards I think they launched a fairly seriously priced limited edition (I like Clearaudio , a brand that doesn’t get the respect it deserves on these pages - I suspect because of strong home grown brands like Rega and Linn)
Very recently there was an ex-dem offered at £11k by a reputable dealer. My interest was piqued and my fingers were itching a little… when I looked again the next day it was gone…
This week only you can buy a Solstice package for $16,000 in the USA.
Maybe there is a loss of appeal for something which has, designed into its marketing, an enhanced nicheness. Doesn’t mean that it’s not great sounding though.
Signals announced the end of production and a desire to sell their demo Solstice, might be worth a call?
My Dealer’s one is also for sale. I assume many will have them and would probably negotiate on price given they are just sat there not generating sales.
Because it’s not an excellent turntable!
Ouch!!
I don’t own one and have no “dog in the fight” here, but I don’t think I’ve seen anything but total satisfaction from those that actually own the Solstice. It seems like a fine turntable.
Well thats questionable, as you only have to look on this forum to see that some have already changed things with the package. That means that they weren’t entirely happy with it, as you don’t changed something you are happy with do you.
Cheers dunc
Just because there is scope for improvement doesn’t mean that someone is unhappy.
I may well have missed it, but don’t recall seeing anyone who bought one going back to something else.
PS I’ve no dog in the fight here either!
Really? This forum is full of compulsive box swappers, cable swappers and triggers broom turntable enthusiasts. Why would you not expect buyers of a Naim 3-box vinyl setup to continue in this way?
Tell us more about your experience with the Solstice?
I don’t expect anything
Just mentioned that some have already swapped bits.
As said you only do things like that if you are looking for better, as if its fine, you leave.
Thats all
…often running ARO mk1’s on their Tangerined LP12s, which cost >£25k all-in
I auditioned the Solstice against the Technics SL-1000R, both similarly priced, using a NAC282/NAP250 set up and the Technics won hands down. Then compared it to my Technics SP10/SME 309/Hana ML/Whest 30SE PRO phono stage, the improvement over both turntables was astounding. The upgrade for the Solstice is the Superline! I’m not convinced, if your asking £16,000 for a turntable I would have produced a far better phono stage to go with it!
