I like to listen to Sirius XM for some live music shows they have (U2, Dave Matthews) and I didn’t used to have issues but now seem to have frequent drops. Anyone else experience this or suggestions on how to fix? I noticed the new streamers don’t have antennas, are they better with airplay?
The new (2nd gen.) streamers are the first ones to have Airplay, so they can’t be any worse than the older ones! They also have much better WiFi performance although the antenna is internal.
Have you tried using an Ethernet cable, even just temporarily to see if that resolves the problem?
I thought the ND555 was airplay capable? It shows that it is when I use Sirius. I have had it connected via an ethernet cable before but had similar problems. It drives my wife crazy so I thought of putting a 333 or 2222 in it’s place and use the ND555 in my basement listening room. ![]()
Yes, the 555 is Airplay capable, I just meant that the previous models weren’t. The issue could be with the 555 connection to your network, but is could equally well be a problem between your phone and the network.
With Airplay the data goes to your phone over WiFi, then back to the network to get to your streamer. I’m not generally a fan of Chromecast, but you could give it a try to see if it’s more reliable. It differs from Airplay in that the audio data goes directly to the streamer, not via the phone which just acts as a remote.
