Album of the week (not just new releases)

Wasn’t that a track on a Bonzo Dog Doo Dah band album

I had a similar reaction listening to Church of Scars by Bishop Briggs. Great voice, but the production / presentation puts me right off. Maybe it’s the current thing (though that album’s a few years old now).

A somewhat more eclectic selection of covers than the last one but… just lovely.

Introduced to her last album by a recently retired ex colleague. That “had something”. It’s much more defined here. Gentle, clear and melodic. Reminds me of the last Cassandra Jenkins. Suspect it’ll be up there with Boygenius in my end of year best ofs.

Enjoying it this morning Mike, thanks. I get the Cassandra Jenkins reference and perhaps a bit of Aimee Mann in her voice too?

Will spend more time with this one I am sure.

The new Natalie Merchant album is beyond brilliant. Great songs and what a voice.

Is this a new reissue?

It’s a brand new album. She is touring UK in the autumn
