My father in law has a decent vinyl collection but nothing to play it on and streams Spotify to his phone.
I wanted to recommend an Atom with a Rega P1 but fear the price of an atom plus speakers maybe a stretch too far…
I think the P1 is a good recommendation for a cheap entry point but with good quality and looking for some Atom equivalent recommendations but at a lower price point - any recommendations.

Yes its an entry level system but its still pretty good.
Edit: Just re-read the ops post and mentioned streaming. The system one might not solve that problem.
Turntable with built in phono stage plus Muso or QB.
But streaming can be added easily eg blue sound nano streamer is £299.

Well there are the Denon and Arcam entry level variants. But you could also go the Muso route with the P1. It doesn’t get simpler than that whilst still ticking all the functionality boxes.
Every other option I think of costs as much as an Atom except a second hand Atom.
Can I make a non hifi suggestion? Ask your dad what he’d prefer. Take him shopping. How he feels about what he wants when thinking about it might not be the same as how he feels listening to something. He might feel a Muso or something is all he needs or he might feel, gosh I’ve missed this. I want to treat myself. What’s above a P1 and Atom?
Wiim amp pro? Reviews all say It punches well above its £399 price point and you’re getting a hi-res audio streamer and amp all in one small box with a phono socket on the back for a turntable
Cambridge Audio EVO 75 or 150? Optionally there’s also a matching CD transport available.
I demoed this a few weeks ago. It was pretty good. Nice and neat but it was a bit boring for me.
My cousin has the previous generation Cyrus One (without cast). I thought it was very good.
