Hi all ,do you loose much in performance swapping out sbls to allae speakers.
I need a speakers I can move about more regularly without upsetting seals gaskets etc

I would put the SBL on par with the SL2, the SL2 is far ahead on performance over the Allae.
However, Ive owned all three (the Allaes twice), still own the SBLs.
If you are moving SBLs room to room fairly carefully, keeping them upright, I found you can do this without breaking the seals.

I think the answer, regardless of anything else, is that if you need to regularly move your speakers then SBL’s are just not suitable for you. You need to look elsewhere, whether that’s another Naim speaker or something different. No way around it unfortunately.
You wouldn’t want to move SL2s about either.

Back on topic, I’ve owned both and, if it helps, would say that the Allaes are still a heck of a speaker even if set up sub-optimally.

The Allae is no slouch. Enjoyed 13 years with the Allaes, connected to various setups from the UQ all the way to NAP300s, a very capable speaker.

That’s easier said than done if one enjoys Naim speakers. There’s nothing else out there that sounds quite like them in a full Naim system IMHO. I use n-SATs/n-SUB to great affect but i wouldn’t want to keep moving them around, as a lot of care & attention goes into setting things up, so they are just right. Maybe Allaes or an Ovator S-400 are quicker & easier for the plonk and play method?
