You remind me of an Irish colleague I once had. He designed software and his designs were not the most effective ones, but I had to peer review them. It was a joy to read: starting left top corner to right bottom corner and it felt like reading an early twentieth century novelle.
It’s getting increasingly upsetting and annoying for me at Naim’s total silence about my ambivalence.
Surely it’s not too much to ask for at least a small press release to deal with ambivalence and equivocation wrt the latest firmware. Instead just silence.
I’m seriously thinking of moving on from Naim to dCS as at least they are likely to send a strongly worded solicitor’s letter in relation to any equivocation.
Even though I’m unsure whether I’m ambivalent or happy with the update I’d like to say this is by far the best thread about the recent firmware update, I think.
I just have and my NDS still sounds as good if not better than before.
I may be imagining things but I think it sounds a little cleaner to me with potentially more detail coming through. The lovely smoothness is still there, not finding anything negative yet.
It’s easy to roll back to 4.8 so there’s little risk in trying it.
Internet radio has an issue for me on BBC radio only, I’ve posted on another thread regarding this.
Even if there is a chance to roll back I am extremely careful now. You might know why
I do not listen to radio - so nothing missing here.
Cleaner with more detail was the first impression with nd555 as well … but this was only the very first impression.
Am going to go with ‘Happy With the New Update’. My NDX is a 2014 model and am genuinely impressed that it is still being supported to some degree. Can’t think that is the case for many digital products!
I have updated my NDX 1 yesterday and my first impression is: I like what I hear (via audirvana). I believe the presentation has improved a little in all areas. No harshness at all but a bit more of everything in a positive way (is there more soundstage behind the speakers now?). I’m not realyy sure, so I’m looking forward to read your opinions.
