I may be getting new speakers for my main system replacing SL2s and an n-sub and since they have very little secondhand value and speakers are especially difficult to sell on in Ireland, I’m considering repurposing them in the TV room to replace a Bluesound sound bar.
What integrated amp would be a good fit in this scenario?
Max, You’re missing the “may” and “considering” in my opening post!
I heard the particular speakers at the maverick show and was impressed by the room and system they were in. Noticed them at a good price so am going to demo. Hopefully then move on to a home demo (although haven’t discussed this with dealer yet).
Then if they cut the mustard I have a choice of a difficult sale of the SL2/n-sub or repurposing. They are not being relegated to a sound bar!
I’m deliberately not mentioning the speakers as I don’t really want my judgement influenced by comments I may read here.
N50… easily dismissed … but for me, in my modest room size, the best naim amp (I got to a lovely 52/sc/300dr) I’ve ever had. If you can get one of the bargains around now, which I think you could easily move on in time without much of a loss, then I think it’s got to be worth a try.
there is too much negativity in the world already – I prefer to celebrate that the SL2 are still holding their own for me rather than negatively comment on speakers which other people own and love and a decent company make.
My opinion about speakers should probably carry about as much weight as my opinion about the correct piston timing for a Formula One sports car.
Good example of where hearing something in isolation in unfamiliar surroundings and being impressed is a poor time to make a decision. In familiar surroundings, with direct comparison, the decision is far better informed.
