Some great people, great stuff, nice pictures, and a review on the new Analogue Productions , Miles Davis, « Birth of the blue « .
And quick to read.
There surely cannot be anyone who needs another version let alone a pointless 18-g version but that was an excellent read and listen.
Have my copy on preorder I have a DMM pressing of 1958 Miles which has the same tracks but this AP issue will be far superior can’t wait.
I wonder if @JosquinDesPrez will pass on it or not?
@Richard.Dane , have you heard such system ? Don’t know if it called Paragon system or JBL ? But it’s vintage.
I have not ordered it. I’m on the fence about it. I’ll wait and see what people say about it. Trying to not buy more albums I’ll play once and file away forgotten.
I’ve heard a superb restored EMT 930ST and it was sublime. I’ve also heard the Marantz pre/power combo and the MC275 but sadly neither of the JBLs. Their reputation though is quite something. As you probably know, the later JBL 4343 is a speaker I have long had high on my wish list.
p.s. I have ordered the LP…
I didn’t knew or remember that this JBL speakers were long on your list.
Would be very glad if i could listen to the system shown above.
Oh yes, me too!
The old Naim distributor for Italy, Vanino Spinelli, once gave me a short list of vintage speakers to keep an eye out for and at the top of it was the JBL 4343. I was curious, and so from then on made it my mission to track a pair down. At shows I went to listen to the modern equivalents, the K2 and Everest - in many ways, potentially great sounding speakers, but perhaps never quite reaching that potential when I heard them. Still, promising stuff. And then on a trip to visit dealers in Germany, a visit to a dealer who had a pair that he had rescued from the old Deutsche Schallplatten factory and had the drivers restored. Driven by just a modest NAIT 5i and NAIM CD5 CD player, they were a total revelation. I could have stayed for the whole week. Very, very special indeed.
I see one pair on EBay. 22k. Why are they so expensive ?
That seems a very high figure. There’s a company in Japan called Kenrick Sound who restore them and then sell them on for lots of money, so maybe that has pushed up seller’s expectations?
Thanks Mr Rooster, a must have.
