And the journey starts

Yes I think so. I tend to listen to a lot of popular music on CD from recent years and Beatles, etc aside, the vast majority of the CDs have been highly compressed poor quality (in some cases sent them back). Interestingly, those same CD’s ripped to Wav or Flac and streamed via. the Nova sound a lot better and not as thin and reedy sounding as was the case via. the CDS3 (which was a great player btw with the right material, i.e. Beatles 2009 remastered). However, not all vinyl is perfect, but the quality of the genre I listen to overall beats their CD equivalents hands down…

After all this recent debate on whether the addition of a 300DR brings any benefits to the Nova or not I have tested it again by using the Nova on its own and then with the 300DR (using the same music from the same source). And I most definitely hear an improvement in sound. The bass is tight and controlled. This is particularly noticeable on bass heavy songs where the Nova struggled to control it as good as the 300 does.

I can understand that the Nova might need careful matching with other amp brands but within the Naim range there shouldn’t be any issues in terms of synergy.
