Annual Solar generation down 10% - Weather change?

I don’t think it’s your smart meter that’s on strike, I suspect the problem lies somewhere in Octopus’s smart meter readings ingestion/publishing since I’ve had a similar problem (no data since 10th).

So I’m a little pleased to see it’s not just me!

You could do worse than have a look at Gary Does Solar on youtube. Others have mentioned his channel here before.

:grinning: Nice one.

Interesting!! My last reading was the 10th. Hopefully they will get it sorted out. I called this morning and they are looking into it.

My electricity readings on Octopus are zero since 10th also
Gas readings still showing for every day

The mystery deepens. I’ve just spoken to Octopus again and said others had the same issue from the same date. They said their investigation would reveal the exact cause of the interruption, so hopefully we will all be working ok soon.

I have no readings on the Octopus app since 11th. On the Loop app the import readings are there, although it doesn’t have access to our export data, so I suspect it’s just the Octopus app failing to show the readings.

I understood that my system has the battery DC coupled to the panels. The battery can still charge if the inverter is on maximum load.

I emailed Octopus this morning as my import and export have not updated since 11 April. They said some others were experiencing the same problem, but not everyone! Octopus compare has been updating though.

I had an issue back in October. The meter still records the data, which can be retrieved for several months. I record an estimate based on the Zappi figures adjusted for a systematic error of about 0.3kWh.

For Information, you should be able to get your export reading directly from your meter. My In-House Smart display doesn’t show this, so I have to grab it manually myself each month

The figures have now come through. Clearly my call got them to fix it. I wonder if it’s now working for others.

Mine has also updated to include up to yesterday (inclusive) both Gas and Electric readings

They obviously restarted windows

I’ve just looked at the Octopus app again and I now see an import figure for the 11th which was previously missing, but not for 12th. I’m also suspicious that on 3rd April the app shows zero export despite it being sunny and our usage being low as we were out nearly all day.

They can pull the data again to fill gaps.

Yes I had the same issue with Octopus electricity readings Friday and Saturday, although the gas readings were ok. Anyway they appeared half an hour ago as did Sundays. But Sunday’s gas is not yet in, which is normal.

Please forgive me if this is too much of a diversion, but I thought people may be interested, and it’s not worth its own thread.

When the solar was installed, the work was inspected by an extremely thorough gent from Napit. He picked up a few things that needed changing, the biggest change being us getting a new current spec consumer unit. We were told there were a ‘couple of bits’ to finish off, including a full electrical test to enable certification.

Those ‘few bits’ were done today. One thing I wasn’t expecting was removal of my antique Henley block, installed over 25 years ago to split the tails when I had a dedicated consumer unit installed. Apparently because we now have Solar, the Henley at 100A is insufficient. It’s been replaced with a splitter/isolation switch thing, which looks very flimsy but is rated at 125A. New regs will require this, if they don’t already. It means we can isolate the whole house with one switch rather than two. It seems totally unnecessary, but is needed to get the official sign off. How electricians keep up with all of this I’ve no idea.

I’m not sure quite which but you mean and I can’t find the photo you posted before after the installation had been done.

But assuming you mean the grey box with what looks like four red switches on the front, another reason for putting a switch in like that is that it completely enables the consumer side to be turned off when subsequent changes to your electrical installation are made. Electricians are not supposed to touch the main fuse for the house and it’s obviously inconvenient booking the DNO to come and pull the fuse, then come again later to plug it back in and seal it again.

I only have the one consumer unit and no solar installation or heat pump, but I still got the electrician doing my consumer unit upgrade to put in an isolation switch instead of the Henley Block (which was no longer needed anyway).

Apparently a switch should have been installed in the meter box when the smart meter was installed by the DNO but wasn’t. When the consumer unit was done a few weeks ago, and again today, the electrician pulled the main fuse. It’s just not worth the risk working with a live feed. The new box has one big switch that takes everything out. It’s good to know that we now have a way of turning everything off; we now have so many isolation switches it’s unbelievable. The new switch replaces the Henley block at the bottom of this picture.

Yes I see. The electrician pulled the main fuse but he shouldn’t have done because it isn’t permitted.

Anyway that’s why they fit these isolation switches now. An electrician will never need to pull your main fuse ever again, unless he’s working on the meter, in which case he’s trained and allowed to pull the main fuse.

You can’t safely disconnect a cable from a Henley block that’s live, is the point.
