A nice read for an aspiring XS2 owner.

I find my SN3 + HCDR only sounds better and better.
Or am I imagining…

I too am a big fan of the SN3+HighcapDr combination. If Naim ever releases a SN4, I would consider how that compared. Otherwise I don’t feel the need to upgrade my system beyond what I have already done.

I own a 2016 XS2 with HiCap DR. The whole thing is completed by a Rega P3 turntable with Neo Psu Mk2 and Rega Exact cartridge, Bluesound Node 3 streamer, Naim CD5SI CD player and a pair of glorious JBL 4311Bs. I am very satisfied with this system, but I think the time has come to replace the amplifier with a Supernait 3: is anyone who has already made this upgrade completely satisfied? No regrets about the XS2?

I don’t know what constraints you have, how much space, power outlets, other domestic considerations. I recently swapped out my XS3 for a late 80s vintage 42.5/110/HiCap. I bought it unheard, as a gamble, but could likely have sold it on if it didn’t work out. It is working out, it sounds great and looks great. No regrets about my XS3, it’s a great amp and all in one box vs 3. But I prefer my “new” setup. Sorry it wasn’t what you asked, but might otherwise be food for thought.

A 62 or 72 would have enough inputs for your current sources

I did exactly the same upgrade as your proposing XS2 to SN3 and I have no regrets at all the SN3 is just a better amp, I added a HiCap DR after about 6 months which added a further up lift in performance.
If your happy with the sound of your system with the XS2 then you won’t be disappointed with what the SN3 brings to the table.

Thank you for your feedback. :+1:

I did exactly the same when SN3 first came out. Had the XS2 for some time and it had a lovely sound (had it with HiCap DR).

I deliberated as to whether to trade in HC with the Xs2 but instead kept it and put in on the SN3.

It’s a fabulous upgrade and one that still impresses years after doing it. I’m really not interested in moving to pre / powers, SN3 gives me all I need.

The SN3 brings more attack and slam but the XS2 is a really good amp in its own right. Vocals on SN3 have more texture and shape.

I’m sure you’d be very happy.

Thanks Adam1! :+1:

If you don’t need a Phono Stage then the SN2 is well worth considering and very late models can be found for bargain prices.

After years of upgrading and going as high as 282/SC/282 I’ve owned the SN2 for a good while and am in no rush to change also the HCDR isn’t a must some have preferred the SN’s with and without one.
