Ansuz Thread

To avoid frustrating others on the ‘what was the last bit of gear you purchased’ thread, I’ve started this thread to discuss all things Ansuz.

I’ve been a serial tweaker of both boxes and cables in my system, but after landing on a Linn Selekt/NAP350 system I’ve finally got some stability with my boxes. I thought I had with my cables as well, that was until I tried Ansuz.

They are an extremely expensive brand, but I’ve managed to accumulate the following in my system through buying second hand and also getting some cracking deals on brand new series 2 items that have been discontinued:

X-TC Switch
X2 Ethernet Cables (feeding Roon Nucleus & Selekt)
C2 Mainz Distributor
X2 Mainz Cables (one for the C2 and three for the Selekt/350s)
D2 XLRs (with dtc cables)
A2 Speaker Cables

I’m yet to receive the XLRs, but based on my experience of the rest of the above I am expecting a big ‘wow’ moment!

After getting the XLRs, I’ll be one cable short of a full Ansuz loom, which is the power cable feeding the XTC switch. I’ll look to get one over time and also plan to eventually upgrade the switch. The D2 dtc cables will no doubt sound great plugged into it, but they are spec’d to be used with the much higher power box model in the range.

Edit - it is worth highlighting that based on the sonic improvements the above gear has made to my system, I see Ansuz to be just as an important component to it as I do both Linn and Naim.

You have around 20k euros cables. Why not have bought first a KDSM ?
Just wondering

Because I didn’t pay anywhere near that much for them!!! I’m also more than happy with my Selekt Edition Hub :+1: Whilst the KDSM would no doubt be better, given it uses the same DACs, I’m happy with what I have.

Ansuz power cord on the Ansuz switch made a bigger improvement than Ansuz on Naim boxes in my system.

Out of interest can you show what cables were replaced, i.e previous speaker cable etc?

Sure, I previously had the following set-up (which was no slouch):

PSM156 mains block
Puritan Classic Plus mains lead
Furutech NCF/Acrolink mains cables (for Selekt/350s)
Super Lumina speaker cables

I was using WiFi and so I added the XTC switch first. When I combined this with the X2 ethernet cables I got a really nice improvement in SQ. A lot more blackness and clarity.

However, it was when I added the A2 speaker cables and then the C2 mains block and X2 mains cables that I got a really transformational improvement. This is not to say my previous cables were not excellent, but the Ansuz loom effect has really made the difference for me.

Sorry to be a bore, because I often ask this: you do have dedicated mains with its own consumer unit and an earth directly back to the meter, don’t you?

I have often speculated their prices seem insane.
The explanation why people own might be what you said.

Years ago a fellow Dynaudio owner (at that time) switched over to Raidho speakers (D1).He upgraded those over time, to floor standers (D3) which retail for about 80K. He also used an Aavik integrated and Ansuz cables. The amount of money he was spending seemed insane to me for cables.
He swore by them, I think it was the Diamond series he made it to, could be wrong on the name. I believe the speaker cables were around 20K though. Way above most people’s budget, if you are a working stiff like me. I have never heard any of their products myself, but have always been curious.
He probably went to Borrenson when the owners branched off to start their own company, but I have not heard from him in many years.
Are you guys not curious about Aavik and Borrenson?

I find their rack very nice looking:

How nice would two of these be next to each other with a good olive setup on it …

Are they priced like the rest of their gear?
Nice looking, I agree on that.

Indeed, it starts at 7k or so. I’d never spend that money on Hifi, but nice looking it is and if someone has it and posts a photo, I do also enjoy it.

Congrats on your DTC, now that’s one serious cable. Get a D2/D3/DTC power cord to your main block, it has the biggest improvement and performance than all others :flexed_biceps:t2:

BB , go straight to D2 or D3. I heard C3 vs D3, the difference is scary

I would love to, but I should be clear - I can only afford to buy this level of gear if I see a good deal. I got VERY lucky with the gear I own as follows:

X-TC Switch - £900
X2 Ethernet Cables - £320 each new
C2 Mainz Distributor - £1400
X2 Mainz Cables - c£400 each new
D2 XLRs (with dtc cables) - £2500
A2 Speaker Cables - £950

So I’ve spent about £8000 in total but the retail cost of all that is circa £28,000!! I’ve been very lucky and to be honest I’ve only purchased so much recently as I saw the deals and went for them before it was too late.

As I said above, I’ll upgrade the switch and X2 mains cables to try and bring everything up to the A or C level over time (as and when funds permit and deals exist!).

They do look very nice, I agree. However, that is crazy money. I’m also quite happy going down the furniture led route I’m currently pursuing rather than a dedicated hifi rack. I’m planning to order one of these and then purchase some stabilisation feet for the Ansuz C2 and XTC switch. The Darkz are crazy money again so I’m thinking about going for some of the Stack Audio isolation feet instead which I’ve seen a number of forum members comment positively on :+1:

We are peas in a pod :joy:

Like you, I’ve tried a silly amount of cables. Multiple Chord interconnects and speaker cables in pretty much every line they do up to and including Sarum T and multiple different power cables using Furutech NCF. I never really felt the benefit of the power cables until a few weeks ago when my NCF connectors finally burnt in. Whilst they sounded great, the cheaper X2 cables together with the C2 block blows them out of the water. However, if anyone doesn’t want to go the Ansuz way, I would still recommend the Furutech cables as they are very, very good. Especially with SR fuses fitted which mine do.

Hi, no I do not but I plan to do so in the future when we have our house renovated. All the electrics need updating as it’s an old Victorian house and so I plan to get a separate spur when we have bigger work done :+1:

Very curious about Borrensen as @SRO raves about his 01’s. They are in another league in terms of cost for me though and I’m very happy with my Kudos 505s.

I was listening to a stripped down piano track by Fontaine DC last night at 50 on the Linn volume dial and I swear the lead singer was in my lounge!!! It sounded amazing. I can’t wait to hear what the (nearly) full loom sounds like when the D2 XLRs are added!!!
