I held off reading any reviews before seeing it, but for me (and the other two grown-ups I was with) The Guardian cited ‘review’ hit’s the nail squarely on the head.
One for the gaming generation I guess. My kids in their 20’s thought it was great.

The curse of the CD. Everybody started to fill their discs with 60-70 minutes worth of music (with a liberal dose of filler), whereas previously a finely produced vinyl disc could ‘tell its story’ in 45. Apart from with Classical music, my listening threshold is about 40 minutes

Yup, wholly agree.
Another one sent to watch it by their daughter with a degree in film production (she’s just finished a long stint on upcoming sorcery game flick “Elden Ring”). Interstellar is one of her favourite films, Dunkirk is right up there for more-easily-pleased me.
7/10. Dialogue quiet, sound ridiculously overblown in our small local cinema, three people behind us walked out after an hour due to that. The wife said she’d rather watch it at home on our movie system. Nicest thing she’s ever said.
Great performances all round, nice ending. Goes on a bit.

Seen it and enjoyed it. I like most of what Nolan does and appreciate his ambition of filming as much in camera as possible. I thought Damon was excellent as was Samantha Morton and Anne Hathaway. But it’s a “failing” of the Odyssey story that it can come across as a series of Odysseus and his men landing somewhere, finding out the locals aren’t very friendly and then running away back to their ship….all a bit Monty Pythonesque.

We enjoyed it at our local Vue. Nicely refurbished cinema with big comfy recliners.
I thought that there was rather too much plot armour. That is a pet hate of mine - cavalier actions, no jeopardy, predictable.
I didn’t know much about the original story, even though I have visited what is left of Troy. Some bits, including the ending were predictable.
As a Nolan film (which are normally pretty good) I would rate it as fine but not great. An enjoyable afternoon though.

Went to see it at the weekend. Very long and quite repetitive (large group of men run to boats on beach to launch miraculously before baddy/monster arrives). Not a bad watch but not five star imho. If you have read the story the Americanisms are jarring!

Enjoyed it a lot. We don’t go to the cinema much and only for big screen movies (Dune 2 last I think). 3 hours flew by. Local independent cinema on old-school 35mm film! Not the biggest screen. Not the best sound. Not the highest ticket price, but decent bar and comfy, non-reclining seats.

I really like Hannah Einbinder in Hacks. Not sure on this but the reviews have been mostly great.
Always good fun to read a thread from the top. Where we currently are is that a number of people at the top of the thread were/are not fans of Nolan and so may/may not be going to see it.
Those who have actually seen it are overwhelmingly positive albeit for remarkably different reasons and with remarkably different reservations where applicable. Only a handful of people who have seen it on this thread have concluded it was not for them. My fave so far could be summarised as “Gladiator with a sh%t soundtrack”.
I still want to see the 70mm iMax version. Not a huge huge fan of Nolan but he’s at least trying to take large scale cinema places it doesn’t normally go very well.
EDIT: appears that the chance to see the 70mm iMax version has passed. Only a laser version now available which is open captioned and mostly at 8am.

CBA editing that again. Just secured 3x decent seats for a week Wednesday at one of the last 70mm showings for a grand total of £18 thanks to having accrued a free Vue ticket and having a CEA card.

Just watched the Odyssey so thought I’d stick with the Nolan theme and watch Interstellar this weekend. Thinking I must have seen this movie, I was amazed to find I’d never watched it. After watching movies pretty much every night since lockdown and often struggling to find new ones, how can I have missed this?

If you’re anywhere near London you can still watch Interstellar in a cinema at the Prince Charles Theatre - it’s showing today and there are other dates available in September, so I see.
Interstellar is a favourite of mine and also my daughter, so a few years ago we decided to have a day out at the Prince Charles to watch it together properly. It was quite something!

yes I watched the Odyssey last week.. really disappointed. Too long and bloated - seemed to miss the point on some of the characters and plot normally attributed to Homer .. I thought the part with Calypso didn’t work - and I feel wouldn’t make much sense if you only had the film to go on.. likewise with Circe.. where was the menace and the sexual entrapment? and it all seemed laissez-faire with her then turning the soldiers back from pigs. Could have done with some Peter Jackson direction at building fantasy suspense and menace – even the cyclops part which had promise – but fizzled out at the end…
The Matt Damon character didn’t work for me either - I felt the ‘hard task master’ yet respected and admired leader part was mostly informed rather than demonstrated.
Perhaps I was expecting too much? But then it was so hyped surely I can expect that.
It might be a Nolan thing - or a Hollywood thing I dont know - but for me it missed big time… and I found myself looking at my watch many times… never a good sign… but I did stay to the end to watch it out - and the last fight scene in Ithaca was entertaining - but again felt slightly disjointed.

I agree with some of your points but the film was probably too short to do the story real justice 
. Maybe a series would be better?
Probably a bit far for me but although a 100” projector screen works well at home, I would certainly consider it on iMax in Manchester area. I am still trying to work out why I’ve missed this one. It’s baffling
yes I thought of that when I wrote it was too long… it felt long and bloated - but yes probably needed to have been split into multiple films - like other epics such as Dune and Lord of the Rings
