Anyone else noticed how few Pre-Loved ND555's there are on sale?

I’m using the ethernet workaround to connect the zen mk3 to the nds and therefore using the former only as a server. I keep Sense updated, currently on 3.3.1

Have considered a phoenix net to improve things but my dealer doesn’t stock and I won’t spend that much without trying. What has been your experience with that switch?

Hi Dan, thanks for asking about the Solo 800 Amps. The amplifiers are still not on plinths, however I have a plan for that maybe later this year.

Meanwhile I have been evaluating loudspeaker cable connections and you may have seen some reference to that work in my thread. Again, the final decision is still to be made. There is more to come on that topic soon.

Actually (as a teaser) I also have some thoughts on the direction Naim might take with the installed customer base of the Naim streamers. Just to be clear, these thoughts are PURE SPECULATION, but when I share my thoughts (soon) I do hope that the current owners of ND555 and NDX2 etc take inspiration from what I post.

PS: My apologies for being a bit cryptic in my response to you in this post, but keeping your faith in NAIM (as you have been) will perhaps bear further fruit? and hopefully what I post will be entertaining and informative!

Hi Edmund,
For me I have heavily invested in both Naim and Linn with my LP12.

I love the Naim amplification and my favourite source is my LP12. Having said that the ND555 is a great piece of kit. Since the newest firmware I am enjoying it once again. Streaming gets complicated with switches, ethernet cables and so on.

You have quite a system and it’s different from anyone else on here with the Linn Solo 800s. Your attention to detail with set up, room treatment is uncompromising and to be applauded.

I am enjoying my system and more inportantly my new sofa. This is an essential part of a listening room!

I have no plans for any system upgrades at all. But should circumstances change I would consider changes. At the moment it is not cost effective to change things out. And I do love my Naim system!

I look forward to your cryptic speculations!

Best wishes,

BD

This is a great point and something I find I cannot decide until I’ve lived with the hardware for a while. Initially something super-revealing CAN sound wonderful. For me, it takes a while for the sound to become annoying and once that happens it never goes away!

The cryptic speculations are probably the Space Optimization on the next Naim streamers.

I can’t see Naim using it tbf. More R & D. More hassle for Naim. I think the Naim product range will remain as it is for some time.

Talk of statement streamer and new Statement and new 500 series aren’t on the cards as there isn’t sufficient market for it. Hifi dealers are all struggling at the moment as far as I can gather.

Economic climate ?

It’s @Edmund-of-Essex idea. At least I guess, from the Factory visit thread last posts of him.

Like I say Naim don’t work like that.

Linn are very clever with modular upgrades. This is why I now have LP12 Klimax. The space optimisation is another string to their bow. With their streamers you can change out DAC and power supply. It means customers can keep existing kit and continually upgrade bits.

Phoenix is very very good (warm, Full, meaty) - but you need a test period. System balance is so sensitive

There is a new switch coming from Innuos replacing PhoenixNet. Might be worth waiting for.

Hi Dan,

I have constructed my fantasy world and posted my pure speculation re future product development from NAIM on the thread posting below if you are interested

Are you potentially holding back your system’s performance with so little Mana?

When was this?

Do you stream directly into the NDS?

Zenith into phoenix into nds.

That photo dates back to 9 April. The gear ended up going to a really good bloke in Australia who runs a tricked-out LP12 and a pair of ATC Active 50s.
Here’s the crazy part —about eight years ago, I bought my 52/SuperCap from Australia. Guess who I bought it from? That very same person! Once we figured out our two degrees of separation, he told me he’d always regretted selling the 52. I could totally empathise.
The 552 was awesome more refined and detailed, smoothed everything out beautifully but in my setup, it just didn’t have the foot-tapping magic of the 52. Go figure!
