Anyone joining me for Dry January?

I’ve not done this for 5 years or so. I thought I would do it again as I would like to lose a bit of weight, I am finding that going to the gym twice a week is not doing enough. Also after a Dec holiday and then Christmas I think it would be a good idea.

From previous experience the main challenge is the hour before eating on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening.

So just been down to Tesco to buy some of this, it gets good reviews. Zero beers, I believe, are allowed up to 0.5%. I think that is allowed. Oddly, I needed to be over 18 to buy it.

Anyone else having a go??

I think so, but I’m doubling down by giving up coffee too, for at least January if not permanently.
Recently some cardiac issues have reappeared and I think I need to do my best to help myself this year.

From my point of view, a month like January is why humans invented brewing and distilling. I’m saving my teetotalling until Lent. By then, the world (well, Northern Hemisphere) will be a rather les depressing place.

Best of luck to those of you doing it, though!

Yep. Did it last year in February just to see. I found that the result was a loss of girth and and I felt more energised and awake than usual. Might do it as a twice-yearly tune up.

Can’t see me leaving the electric soup behind completely, mind.

We will not be starting Dryuary until 5th when I return to work. Aiming for end of Feb when we have a weekend away with friends.

To assist in your efforts, alongside the guiness, Theakston’s ‘Nowt Perculier’ is a very nice 0% ale if you can find it.

If you want a Lager alternative, try Lucky Saint. It’s very good and low calorie.

Don’t get the point of poisoning one’s self.
Never smoked but I’ve been drunk 3 times in my life and hated it.
Don’t get it at all.

Generally do a dry January and February. With maybe 5 days “off” for special occasions.

Last year lost 9kg ! Not just booze calories, but food choices when imbibing
