Has anyone tried or actually listened to a 222 or 333 with two NPX 300’s?
Naim appear to suggest this is possible, even desirable, but of course they would wouldn’t they? ![]()

Yep, saw a preloved NPX300 and had that thought…….
Now lying down in a darkened room with a couple of aspirin and a wet towel over my head ![]()

It can be done, though the automatic standby coordination would no longer work.
Odd that Naim didn’t think that through…… or perhaps not. Missed marketing opportunity.

Or perhaps the implicit suggestion that you need two PSUs for the NC streamer to work properly was judged to risk losing more sales of NC streamers than it would add power supplies.
IIRC, only the larger Burndy carries the inter-product comms between the units.
Surely a true Naim aficionado wouldn’t want to use the standby function though, would they ![]()
Hmmmm…. Indeed. I did think 500 Series ps configuration perhaps a little excessive for the 222, maybe a little less so for the 333.
And blowing out the ps system automation, illumination, soft power up, etc. seems a bit short sighted.
But, as we’ve all said/thought before, what would we know

PS Thanks for the help with Core backups, both now sharing common backup
.
Instead they made it sound bloody marvellous without a power supply ![]()
I’m using my series 300 without power supplies as well. Using Chord Sarum T interconnect.
If I had the cash and space I would experiment with two PS on my 332 and 333. Cash could be found but space for another rack can’t be found without structural changes so it won’t happen in the short or medium term and long term I will be too old to want to try it.
The clever or is it sneaky folk at Naim have given the NC range two standby options, the low-powered one that all products have to have now, which powers down the signal circuitry. They also do the Instant-On standby option, where the important circuitry is kept powered up, so that when turned on, SQ is as good as being left on. I think Instant-On saves about 5 watts per box compared to being left on.
The Auto Standby functionality is great. I find that after the initial run in ups and downs when they were new, my 350s need very little warm up before sounding their best. It’s nice having them bring themselves out of standby automatically when they sense an audio signal and taking themselves back into standby a short while after I’ve finished listening.
