Apple raise prices significantly for many products

Some believe that the AI driven surge in demand is already peaking and that this could soon result in oversupply, with share values of some manufacturers falling in anticipation. I guess waiting for the likes of Apple to reflect this on their pricing might require some patience. Time will tell.

Possibly two different things. There is certainly not an over supply in Europe such as with the UK and other western European countries…

However has the marketing hype exaggerated forward earnings on certain AI tech companies - predominately in the US? The growing consensus is yes and there is a risk that could be a sharp correction.

Ie there is a demand for AI realities now (which are possibly more mundane) as opposed to focussing on jam tomorrow futures which tend to capture the public’s imagination - just look at certain threads on this forum for example.

I’m certainly no expert on the global economics of chip supply etc. but a few news articles I’ve read pointed out drops in share values of Asian chip manufacturers due to oversupply. UK consumers will no doubt be at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to pricing and availability, and I was surprised to hear people reporting oversupply at this stage. Of course news reports can’t always be relied on for accuracy, and with increasing global instability I won’t waiting too long on the off chance of getting better prices on my next laptop or phone.

I was referring to commercial/industrial where new facilities are bing created subject to local power arrangements as opposed to consumers.

But if there is an oversupply of memory chips or GPUs then most should benefit with reduced prices. Not seeing it in my professional world though, or my personal one.

I had heard that asian fabrication plants were suffering with very high energy costs from the US/Iran war - but that is slowly returning back to normal now though.

If the oversupply reports are true I would guess that it’s much too early for it to have filtered through the supply chain yet. With Apple having only just hiked their prices I suspect it might be a long time before they would even consider a reduction.

Yeah Apple is more consumer/commercial EUD, in industrial these things tend to come through very quickly, as often first indicated in my experience by changing lead times and then price changes.. as you are often manufacturing to order with little inventory held.

Lets see = I will be procuring significantly later this calander year.
