When Version 8.0 of the F&N app was released today the release notes say that there is a companion Watch app. There is, and I have downloaded it to my Apple Watch 10 (cellular/gps/wifi). I can’t get the Watch app to do anything. According to the Help on the Watch app, my device (NDX2) is not unsupported. When I use the scan facility on my Watch nothing is found, even though I am in the same room as the NDX2 and connected to the same WiFi network. Has anyone got the new Watch app to do anything?
It works on my NSC 222 and Mu-so Qb 2nd generation.
are you sure? I just looked on my watch and it lists the unsupported device in the about section, it only list the 1sr gen streamers such as NDX / NDS /N272 etc as unsupported.
When i tried a device search it shows my ND555, Atom and QB2, but not my N272 or uniqute2 - so as expected. I don’t have an NDX2 anymore, but as its a 2nd gen streamer like the ND555 i would think it should work.
Agreed - that’s why I said, possibly clumsily, not unsupported. I’ve tried everything and all that ever happens is that the scan happens and the scan button then says ‘scan again’. NDX2 (2025 model) is never found.
Try removing the WatchApp from the watch and then reinstall it - I think that’s what worked for me.

UPDATE: I deleted the app from my Watch and reinstalled it, but this time from the Watch app on the phone rather than directly installing it on the Watch by means of the Watch-based App Store app. It works now.
Can’t see how to use the Watch app to control volume (my NDX2 is set up for wired ‘System Automation’ with my SN3). Without that it is a stretch to say that the NDX2 can be ‘controlled’ from the Watch app.
Pleased to have it working, sort of, anyway.
This crossed with my message below. Have you found any way to control volume from the Watch app?
Sure, just rotate the watch winder

Volume control doesn’t work for me (NDX2 with wired ‘System Automation’ to Supernait 3).
Experience over the last 24 hrs suggests that the pairing with the Watch is not robust. I’ve just been out and on my return my NDX2 wasn’t showing on my Watch app. Had to delete the app and start all over again (three times, actually). It isn’t really an essential thing to have but if it remains available I hope it will settle down.
No dice for me. I keep scanning and it doesn’t see any of my devices (that are both currently playing)

It definitely does work (assuming your devices are not on the list of incompatible ones - see Help on the app on your watch). As is the case for others, I could get it to work only by uninstalling the app and re-installing it again. It then works well (although volume control doesn’t work with my system).
As always. The fine print. UQ2 and 172 not supported.
Have fun, next-gen streamers!
Works for me on QB2, including using the crown to control volume. Tiny screen means limited functionality, though, so not sure whether I’ll use it much.

I am using it right now (sans vol control). IF …. IF the connection remains stable from day to day and does not have to be re-established all the time I can see myself using it, especially if I am doing something else on my iPad. We’ll see.
To be fair, the Apple watch didn’t exist when the 1st gen. streamers were developed. In fact, even the iPhone was in its infancy, and web streaming music subscriptions as we now know them didn’t exist.
It is a pity volume control doesn’t work, makes the watch app really much less useful (NDX2 system automation to 252).
Not had any problems with finding device to date.
You’ll need a New Classic setup for that. The digital system automation can handle it.
I wonder if the vol control of the NDX2 would work if NOT using wired System Automation? Most of us will, of course, be using SA in the interests of preserving SQ.
Can’t see why.
The naim iOS iPhone app can control volume via NDX2/system automation with no issues.
So it is technically possible, naim just haven’t built it in to the watch app for some reason.
I would expect the crown to work like a short press on +/- NDX2 remote, nudging system automation volume. Just like the iPhone app +/- buttons.
Or forget the crown and give us volume +/- buttons on watch app.
I must say, notwithstanding the inability in my system to control volume with it, I am really enjoying using the Watch app. So convenient. I hope they continue to develop it.
