Hi Max hope those numbers improve and it’s all good news. Love your attitude and outlook. Best of luck and thinking of you, take care.
All the best for the forthcoming tests Max. Glad to hear you’re feeling positive.
Thanks Pete. PSA started going down after RT, but the stage after prostatectomy wasn’t the most promising. I’ve learned a lot of things in the last 20 months, all for the best.
@Alley_Cat Thanks. I really am.
@Alley_Cat if you feel this is inappropriate let me know an I will remove.
My father suffered from clinical depression caused by caring too much about some odd pennies discrepancies in a multimillion £ account at accounting period end amongst other things.
I also have my moments…
Throughout all his troubles music was his relief and I don’t doubt that if he had still been alive he would appreciate the sentiments in this this song.
In the spirit of the above can I humbly offer an anthem for this thread, there is something about the which resonate strongly with me
Halestorm’s ‘Raise your Horns’
Lyrics
Burn every fear, every doubt like a funeral fire
Scream every anthem and follow your reckless desires
Take back the crown that hangs at the gate
Ready your march, steady your aim
For the heart is a soldier that never loses its way
So raise your horns
Raise 'em high
Let 'em soar
Let 'em fly
Up through the heavens
Forevermore
Let 'em reign down
Raise your horns
Sing every verse, every sermon, for the dead are unheard
Shout from the rooftops while you still live every word
'Cause the pendulum swings for those who dare wait
Through flesh and through bone to where nothing escapes
So follow true north on the road that will lead you away
And raise your horns
Raise 'em high
Let 'em soar
Let 'em fly
Up through the heavens
Forevermore
Let 'em reign down
Raise your horns
Forgive every fear that convinced you to put out your light
Show every flaw, every scar that this world made you hide
From who you are
From who you are, are, are, are
Raise your horns
Raise 'em high
Let 'em soar
Let 'em fly
Up through the heavens
Forevermore
Let 'em rain down
Raise your horns
Let 'em rain down
Raise your horns
Let 'em rain down
Raise your horns
All the best Max. Your attitude is amazing. Much love to you. I am hoping we can all be clear of cancer soon!
Dan
Mental illness can be extremely painful and ultimately fatal just like physical illnesses, but unlike physical illnesses, people with mental illness are unfortunately met to a greater extent by an uncomprehending and sometimes judgmental social environment. So to those of you who may have experienced it, I just want to say hang on, it’s never your fault
Very true but I think things and attitudes are changing.
I am ok, although I do get emotional when I think what might have happened had I delayed treatment. I too had radical prostectomy in January but luckily the cancer was still contained within the prostate and subsequent blood tests show psa is zero so hopefully that is the end of the matter. I hope your ongoing treatment gets on top of things.
Without getting naggy, I strongly recommend anyone over 50 to get tested, just in case (mine was picked up when i was 53).
Great advice and I’m glad you got it in time.
I was one of those people who thought he couldn’t happen to me, something I now regret.
I am a prevaricator par excellence , but I think I need a PSA test and on another there is an unfortunate red mark appeared on my forehead where a scabby/ scaly dry patch has gone very red
I’m a Freemason in the UK and we run PSA testing days for Brethren and family and friends for a donation to the charity providing the service.
I get mine checked once a year and fortunately, my PSA result is always low. However, three friends of mine came back with high PSA results. They went to their Doctors, had further tests and examinations, but all were found to have Prostate Cancer.
None of them had any systems whatsoever, all felt fine and no impact on their lifestyle. After their treatment, I’m pleased to report that they are now all OK, although one did struggle quite a bit through his treatment.
As others have mentioned, it is such an easy test to do and for any man over the age of 50 it is recommended, just to give peace of mind if anything.
Take care out there.
DG…
My GP used to authorise a PSA blood test every year and mine bumped along at round about 8.
Then the number suddenly shot up. Why? The only identifier we could figure was dealing with the anxiety surrounding the slow death of a daughter. Our bodies often pass understanding. For me there were no extenuating signs.
Radiotherapy and the other matters made me quite poorly. Consultant, staff and friends were fabulous.
But I got through it. Would have swopped places with D#2 if I could. But the grand design does not allow choice.
Be brave. Get it checked. PSA readings have their critics but is still the best indicator of trouble offered by local clinics.
Just waiting for my 9 monthly check result.Lets hope it still around .003.
I had a yo-yo of PSA results, had all sorts of tests, finally diagnosed with prostatitis. I had none of the normal symptoms and was given a 12 week course of antibiotics. PSA has now dropped to an acceptable level. My message is simply get tested, if only for peace of mind.
Everything crossed for you
Hello, Nick1940, so sorry to hear of the sad loss of your daughter, I can’t imagine what you and your family had to go through. I hope your health issues are behind you and you continue to recover.
You should be prepared to keep at them.
Unless you fall in a black hole.
I was under a provisional diagnosis of Parkinson’s some 15 years back.
Later after some thorough research coming to a clutched from the air diagnosis of a Left Hemiparesis.
Recent tests confirming Multiple Sclerosis but, the rare form of primary progressive MS.
Still. All Drs I have encountered have done a fantastic job.
My PSA was 3.1 in September 2023.
I think it was 3.5 in about April this year.
The NHS has just ordered another test for me so I’ll know soon what that is.
I’ve been doing not bad recently, virtually medication free and good physiotherapy.
However, today tested positive for Covid, just like a bad cold but still a pain!
Sorry to hear that…….take care.
Hopefully it will pass soon, all the best.
