Thanks for keeping us updated. I can go months without using dBpoweramp, then rip 20 cds at a go.

Hi TGR, me too, I rarely rip a CD these days, my new stuff is invariably 24bit PCM or DSD downloads.

I just have a look on the dBpoweramp forum to keep up with whatever is going on. This one looks like it was released on 16th, so I’m a week overdue !!!

This is Asset so nothing to do (directly) with ripping.

Yes we know that, it’s just it was mentioned in passing for not keeping up with updates on the Illustrate/dBp forum.

downloaded yesterday, uograded from 7.5 so well overdue

all works oerfectly and very eay with QNAP

Thanks Mike - have just downloaded to both the Qnap and Synology NAS systems and seems to be running very nicely so far.

… No problem, except it looks like I have a minor problem.
Its loaded OK and shows and plays OK on Naim iOS app and Andoid app, but its not showing correctly on the Synology GUI, it has no Asset logo or any links.
Something to get sorted now time permits this morning.
(A side note, I’ve used Asset for Synology ever since they intro’d it, including beta’s, This is trhe first time I’ve had a problem).

As always @Mike-B thanks for flagging this up - safely installed on my QNAP.

Im wary of updating Asset incase…

Me too.
I once lost my entire library and couldn’t remember the path(s) I needed to enter to point to my music libraries to make it work correctly.
It took me ages to sort it out, so I’m reluctant to update it again whilst it’s working.
That was on both on a Synology and a QNAP.

R2024-12-16 issues / M2 Mac Mini (Sequoia 15.2)

Well, I made the leap to R2024-12-16 and all was well and good for a while… but as with the last update, I’ve now run into issues, so I’ve reverted back to R2023-05-15, which remains stable:

After a few days of using R2024-12-16 without issue, I noticed the following:

  • All my files tagged as “Album Artist, The” are now displaying as “The Album Artist” in the Naim app
  • Switching the handling between “Leave as is” or “Convert to (value), The” does not fix the issue, even after library rescans and app/computer/router restarts

Then it seems the multiple restarts threw something else into the mix:

  • the Album Artist list in the Naim app displayed as usual (except for the still incorrect “The Album Artist” sorting), but the app refused to show any of the albums listed under each Album Artist selection (displaying a “spinning” icon without ever loading the albums), even after additional restarts.

So, I’m back on R2023-05-15 and happily listening to music again.

It’s somewhat troubling that I haven’t been able to reliably update to the last 2 Asset releases. With the last update, the folks at dbPoweramp/Asset corrected some issues based on my feedback and incorporated changes into a beta update (and presumably, in this most recent update as well). But all this jumping through hoops is discouraging when all I want is for Asset to remain reliable and usable.

I see you’ve reported these problems on the dBp forum, thanks.

A note for Synology users on the dBp ‘Asset’ forum from Spoon …
“This is being investigated on the specific threads dealing with synology”

I suspect (hope) we will be getting a new update sometime soon
