ATC SCM40s

I have Wireworld Eclipse 8 in XLR and Electra 7 in AC cable on my 40A… actually I have Wireworld on all my elements, it is a brand that has an excellent value for money I find.

Titan Audio mains cables and Audioquest XLRs

I originally used mark grant cables and puritan mains leads. I then purchased some gutwire synchrony cube interconnects and recently changed to puritan ultimate mains. Very happy with both changes.

Am I correct that the 40s don’t come in an oak finish?

No, I have them in oak finish and they also exist in walnut finish… but only in France!

Very nice - so oak and walnut are only available in France? Surely there would be a big demand for oak, they’re lovely

I do not know if they are still available, it was a limited series at the request of the French importer.

Thanks - I’ll see what my dealer can do!

I’ve used both Mogami and Camare which are excellent for the money. Now using Vertere Pulse B which were an opportunistic purchase.

Shame they don’t do more colour options, even if they are at a cost…..

My 40A’s in cherry have mellowed in colour but would have much preferred walnut….

I now this is an audiophile forum not an interior design one but sometimes I wonder if ATCs are bit ‘industrial looking’ for me in a home setting, these blend in really nicely with your setup, looks great!

You could always laminate them and have any colour you like. It takes a little skill and patience and you will be surprised with the results.
Of course, you can have them professionally laminated as well.

Oak is available throughout the pro range. It’s the entry series that has a very limited choice of finishes, presumably to keep costs down.

The entry series cabinets are made outside the U.K. in large quantities and limited finishes. The 20, 50 etch are made in the U.K. with a whole range of veneer options.

It might be worth asking the question of a fresh veneer to ATC, they always seem flexible in their offerings to me. I believe they purchased the local woodworking company that builds their classic series cabinets so you’d imagine it’s possible.

Cheers Pete, I have 20 active towers on order in walnut so problem solved!

I think once the cherry settles down on the entry range it is more than acceptable.
