Key words are what you prefer

I don’t think you read it but yes of course it’s up to you but he clearly said they test them with grills off and that’s the point I was making? ![]()
Yes of course I read👍, one of the good things about ATC is how communicative and straight up they can be. The Pro 50s have no grills do it makes sense to measure all of them the same way. Measurement in the factory is one thing but how they sound in different environments is another. If you prefer them with the grills off then that’s all that matters. When I bought mine I had the grills off initially but before too long I put them on for protection and soon forgot about them tbh. In my room which is quite ‘live’ I think the grills help with first reflections which I believe is what they are designed for.
Enjoy.
They do look better off for sure ! The Tv is further back than it appears as well so not to interfere.
When we move house in 5 years, the 50s or 100s will be on my audition list.
Those 50s look fabulous ![]()
Sadly on. I went through the same challenge with my 50s. Loved the utilitarian look with them off, but they sound noticeably more balanced and resolved with them on. Like you I suspect, I really didn’t want to hear that! ![]()
My room is carpeted so that might make a difference but for me I am enjoying them off for now, but I can see some unruly rooms where the treble could get too much. Also I play them at lower levels so that will make a difference.
It’s a marginal gain, looks matter! But less about specific frequencies and more about cohesion and how the bass, middle and treble fuse IMHO.
So after living with the speakers now for a while I have learnt a little more about them. They are less worried about rear walls Than I thought and covers on seem to be surprisingly better (embarrassed) It seems clarity is one thing but coherent is another thing. I was wrong! ![]()
Have you a degree of toe in? Mr. Antonio Trebbi of Music For Life, have them with a good deal of angle. Aesthethically wise, generally speaking, i don’t like cabinet at angle
Yes but only around 10-15% I found too much toe in left the speakers without a sound stage. I am still really enjoying them and have realised a big speaker does not mean loads more flabby bass it is much tighter now still robust with weight but doesn’t effect the mid in anyway. I am finding them a little revealing on some music but again with covers on this is restrained.
Thanks, bass control was absolutely perfect in my friend system
