Atom fault not resetting

Hi

New joiner, hi everyone. It seems like it’s my turn for the dreaded, flashing power button light and frozen screen on my Atom.

It’s working pretty well for the last few years and I think it was on the latest firmware.

I’ve been through the forum here, and trying to follow the home fixes, hard resets etc, one thing I’m not sure on is the factory reset -holding the play/input buttons down on power up. When I do that it doesn’t seem to power up any different than normal. what does it actually look like when a factory reset on power up is successful?

If this doesn’t work it’s £90 for a new box and off to Naim for some hundreds to fix.

In the topics I’ve read, there hasn’t been much follow up from the OP on what the issue was or how it was fixed. I’ll try make sure I do that.

Anyone?

Try doing a hard re-boot. Take out the mains lead. Leave for a little while (around 15 minutes) then plug back in again and see if it starts up OK.

While your Atom is off - and before you power it back up - best to do some housekeeping of other key devices: reboot your router and do a full power down and back up of your phone/tablet running the Naim App.

If no joy, then try a factory reset. Press the Play/ Pause and Input buttons on the front panel while powering up the Uniti Atom. Continue to hold for 5 seconds. Release the Play/ Pause and Input buttons. Wait for the Uniti Atom to complete the factory reset and go into Stand-by.

You will lose presets if you do a factory reset, but otherwise it is a highly recommended move if you’re having issues.

I’m sorry, but I have to say it. Did you read my post, I’ve gone through this. My question is what does a factory reset look like? How do I know it’s doing one?

I ask because I try and do it, but it doesn’t power up any different that I can tell, and it doesn’t get to the settings screen.

I’ve not done a factory reset on an Atom so can’t answer the question of what it looks like, but if it happens then it should be like setting up the Atom like it was new. So it should ask to pair the remote and so on.

If you are sending it back to Naim, then you can only do that through a Naim dealer. It can be any Naim dealer and often they can use one of their boxes to send it back.

But first I suggest you phone Naim technical support and they will have lots of suggestions which you may not find looking at what people post here. I suggest phone rather than email because email can take a while to get a response and anyway you really need to talk to someone to cover what you have tried and what happened then. You can find the phone number here in the forum in several places or just google Naim Audio in Salisbury, ring that number and ask for technical support when someone answers.

I hope this helps.

Sorry Jonti, i’ve never had to do it myself so couldn’t say exactly what it looks like or how you would know it’s doing it, but ultimately it should reset the unit back to default just like when new.

As David advises above, you would be best advised to contact Naim support;

Ok thank you, I’ll call them directly. Fingers crossed
