There seem to be quite a few consumer grade so-called mesh WiFi devices that are badly designed and cause problems. Perhaps Sky is one of these? I would absolutely look for a mesh solution, but a proper one that actually works properly, doesn’t cause unavoidable double DHCP issues etc. Put one in the same room as the Atom and you should be able to use it wired or wireless.
Have a look on the Big River site at Netgear WiFi routers, some specifically offer the capability you seem to need, start with the Nighthawk series - you might even get away with a single device .
Not cheap, but then things that actually work rarely are . And, if it doesn’t work, you can always return it and try a different one/brand. (Read the description carefully and due a bit of internet searching - perhaps the teenagers can ‘help’).
If you’re still really struggling to get a working solution after that, Cisco will probably have a product set that will work, but you really need to understand wireless networks and their products to successfully deploy them , not really plug n’ play.

PS ‘Network boosters’ are effective WiFi bridges, which by definition run half-duplex, ie half speed. Might not be enough for the teenagers.
Make sure you don’t have more than one network device acting as a router. Multiple DNS and DHCP services running on the same local network can especially wreck havoc with connections.
I have considered that, cheers, although as I understand mesh (very limited) the best signal moves from router to booster and this confuses the atom as it likes a dedicated wireless signal.
That said it was AI that said it wouldn’t work and as we know AI isn’t always correct!
I will give it a try but thinking any have to bite the bullet and get a wired connection but it will be a tough job due to house constraints!
This is nonsense. I would say the Atom needs a reasonably good signal, period, but there is no such thing as a dedicated signal for WiFi. It’s all the same local network, and if it isn’t that might be your problem (see my post above regarding more than one device acting as a router). Depending on the mesh hardware, you might be able to assign priority and particular mesh units to certain devices with included configuration software, but that’s more likely to be needed for streaming 4K video or a software development workstation running tests on remote services (for example) and less so for streaming audio (even 24-bit high res audio).
The best way to utilize mesh WiFi is to put your mesh nodes on ethernet backhaul. That way they aren’t limited to the wireless signal strength of the base mesh unit.
FWIW: I use Tp-Link Deco6 mesh wifi. I have three units. The base unit fucntions as the router for my LAN, and I put the internet provider’s modem/router in passthrough/bridge mode. The two remote mesh units are connected via ethernet backhaul to the base unit. This all works quite well and is very reliable.
What exactly are these boosters? Were they supplied by Sky? If so you should start by getting onto them and telling them that the gear they have supplied doesn’t work. Their support guys may be able to help, and if they don’t get them working you, you should ask for a refund, but I would suggest that throwing money at alternative hardware in the hope of fixing an undiagnosed fault is not the best approach.
In my experience Naim devices are funny about Mesh wifi. My Nova and ND555 are mostly fine, but my second gen muso won’t work at all with it. I have Orbi Netgear and have gigabit wifi which for pretty much everything is awesome. I would recommend just putting one of the mesh end points near your Atom and running a cable to it. I assume each has an ethernet port in the back of it.
Interesting. Mine not - I went round a loop with Naim support and they pretty much said it wasn’t going to work - using Roon and Tidal connect here. Works fine wired into the end point.
We take the Qb2 out on our deck every night – weather permitting – to play Qobuz. That connects to Deco mesh units (either the one node in the basement, or the one on the second floor) and works pretty reliably. On rare occasion it loses the connection to the Roon server, but restores it on its own within a minute. I don’t know whether that’s a network issue or a Roon server issue (I was using a NUC running ROCK, and now have a Nucleus One).
The Mu-so 2 works similarly, although now we just use it hard-wired in the bedroom for TV duties.
Thanks all. I have it hard wired at the moment with a long Ethernet cable trailing through the house and it’s working perfectly so have decided to get that installed properly I.e not trailing all over the house. Probably a better solution to go wired connection anyway.
Strange that it worked fine with my old sky router albeit I needed two plug in boosters to get WiFi all over the house but the new sky router and the new style plug in boosters from sky which I needed 3 to get WiFi all over the house certainly doesn’t like my Atom HE , constantly dropping out.
I play a lot of music in this room so serendipitously a wired connection is a good outcome and it sounds better.
Although I have Deco 6 Mesh with three nodes, I hardwire as much as I can to ethernet switches around the house.
The only thing I really use WiFi for is mobile devices (iPhones, Apple Watches, MacBook Air laptops), the Mu-so Qb2 mentioned earlier, and IoT devices (e.g. doorbell camera, garage door opener, refrigerator, thermostat, etc).
Desktop computer, Roon Nucleus One, the DAC on my HiFi, the Atom in my home office, TVs, AppleTVs, and even my Wahoo stationary bicycle trainer are all hardwired to ethernet. The mesh nodes are also all connected via ethernet back haul.
My internet service is AT&T Gigabit fiber to the wall.
My NDXS2 apparently connects only to the 2.4GHz network.
On the Netgear Orbi Mesh router (that I use in a large brick home similar to the OP) it is notoriously difficult to separate the 2 frequencies. While the NDXS seems to be connected mostly many other home wifi devices particularly my garden watering system drops off.
I was informed by research that on some of the other mesh systems one is able to create a separate networks with each frequency and manage devices better. I am looking at buying a new system with extenders connected via LAN rather than wirelessly.
Ive used TPLink mesh devices and now got EE ones and find that my Naim devices have behaved fine. I’ve given them priority on the system and locked to one mesh device if that helps
