Audiolab + Qutest pairing. Cable recommendations?

Got myself a Chord Qutest and an Audiolab 9000CDT transport. Am I right in thinking that the only choice I have is optical from Audiolab into Qutest and analogue from Qutest into my pre? Is there an optical cable
that is recommended? I already have a QED analogue cable

Maybe @Simon-in-Suffolk ?

You can use use a 75 ohm coax SPDIF lead or Toslink optical lead. I am not aware of any being recommend as such

You can use either coax or Toslink, as Simon says.
I see you have an NDX2/XPS. Could you not have used an SPDIF input on the NDX2 instead of adding the Qutest?

The Qutest dac apparently gives a much better sound according to many people in here hence why I went that route.

Chord DACs are certainly popular with many of us here, but whether a Qutest sounds better than the DAC in the NDX2/XPS is another matter. I would say more a matter if personal taste than anything.

Is there any advantages to coax or optical? Also the cable length needs to be 4m

Optical has galvanic isolation. The optical TosLink spec is bandwidth limited, but some transceivers will support 192/24.

I have connected the Audiolab to the Qutest via a BNC to RCA coax cable.

Does anyone know what the variable output voltage should be set at please; 1v, 2v or 3v?

Whatever sounds best and balances well with the gain of the your other inputs. I use 2V on mine.

I have tried but when I press the Filter and Input simultaneously all I get is a bright red colour or a dim red colour. I dont get the green for 2v or the blue for 3v. Not sure what I am doing wrong??

You need to press both buttons within 16 seconds of power-up to change the output voltage. If you do this after the 16 seconds you are changing the LED brightness, which accounts for the dull and bright red.
