Rick Beato interviews Hiromi.
Such an amazing pianist and what a great video… I dare say the best I’ve seen about her.

If you are not familiar with her music, I’d suggest you to listen to her albums from the Trio Project and Sonicwonderland. They are all amazing and so unique! I love her music and style.

Lindsay suggested I should watch that video you posted about. It was fascinating. What an extraordinary person Hiromi is.

Just watched a great clip of Mark Ronson talking about the Winehouse track Back to Black - a really interesting story.
Then I watched Beato on how he created an AI artist and track in about 5 minutes & just got depressed…. Tom.

This just blasted into existence, reminding folk that the old geezers could still do the business.

And the video’s not arf bad either.

Thank you @davidhendon, I’m glad you appreciated the video I posted as @LindsayM suggested you. As you said Hiromi is just extrordinary, I sense we are really privileged to have such an artist in this very moment and time, she’ll be part of jazz history without a doubt. I’ve been lucky enough to witness her twice, it’s impossible to forget such a level of artistry.

If you have the chance, I would highly recommend you to listen to her albums, they are just as extrordinary as her. I personally love all her Trio Project as well as the very last two albums, I must say it’s incredible to see how she changes and evolves with every new album, unbeliavable.

This is a video briefly showed in Beato’s interview and it’s 13 years old already!

Thank you for that. I did watch the video. While she is incredible to watch, I’m not certain that I really like her music that much. But then I am straying a long way from my preferred Schubert or Chopin!

I did buy Silver Lining Suite when it was released, but don’t listen to it often. I haven’t tried any other albums although I guess I will be able to stream any of them. If I was going to listen to one album, which would you suggest? I really prefer lyrical rather than fireworks…

I perfectly understand Hiromi’s music is not for everybody, it’s very peculiar and it often needs to be listened to many times to really appreciate it. When I discovered her, I didn’t understand her but after 1-2 years I’ve become a huge fan.

Silver Lining Suite is a beautiful and unique album in my opinion (and very well recorded too), it’s very close to classical music for the general approach. Is it still fireworks for you?

By the way I think you should firstly try the more approachable albums according to your personal preferences: Voice (from the Trio Project) and Spectrum (her one and only solo album). You can easily stream them from Qobuz, Tidal, etc. By the way Hiromi is really fireworks in general, it’s in her veins, she’s calm only in ballads. If you listen to those 2 albums, let me know your thoughts @davidhendon

In my working life there never time to play b-sides, and this kind-of haunted me.

P.S. They were fantastic live.

I watched this last night on the recommendation of my best friend. His son and Nathan got married earlier this year, so it’s obvious why he recommended it lol. I will say that i am a bit of a Vaughn Williams fan and especially of “The Lark Ascending” This though is easily the most beautiful rendition of it i think i have ever heard. If you have a good sound system connected to your TV it just moves you to tears, it really is that good.
