TG’s logo cleverly merged Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists lightning bolt with Bowie’s glam fash-flash from the cover of 1973’s Aladdin Sane .
Personally I’m not quite convinced by the band’s explanation regarding their reasoning.
