I feel compelled to relay to you all my recent predicament in relation to my (until recently) reliable Unitiserve, containing over 1700 albums, and approx. 2tb of music files. My system had been switched off and I had not used it for several weeks while my 552 pre amp was away at Naim for service. Upon return and switching on my system again, the Unitiserve did not start up correctly and just sat there with logo flashing. Initial thoughts went (forever hopefully) to the possibility of needing the new button battery remedy, but (long story short ) this proved not to be the case. Luckily I am a long term customer of Basically Sound here in Norfolk, and having spoken to Tony there arranged to take the Unitiserve unit to him. He spent quite some time trying to get the unit to function correctly but alas it looked like it was a fruitless task. HOWEVER, its is apparent that Tony has many skills, and in particular seems to know the Naim equipment like the proverbial back of his hand, and felt certain that he would be able to retrieve the music files off the now defunct hard drive in the Unititserve. We discussed a plan and cost and the end result is that I now have all my music in raid configuration on my Synology NAS (2 x 4tb drives), with a further back up on a usb hard drive . I am extremely thankful to Tony for all his skill time and expertise is preserving my music files and saving me all the time and trouble of having to re-rip each and every one of the albums on the malfunctioning Unititserve hard drive.
So, a big thank you to Tony who truly deserves the recognition for his skills and determination to find a solution to this problem, and where I guess many other may not have been able to do so.
