Apologies in advance as this is a UK specific gripe! It seems to me that the BBC’s TV coverage of the Proms this year has become very “dumbed down”. In previous years they would broadcast a number of concerts from the season in full, but this year they seem to be selecting specific pieces and fitting into a “best of” series of programmes, we’ve had “Elgar at the Proms” with one piece from this season and then a couple of other Elgar pieces from recent years, there’s also been a “Great Violinists” and a “space music” prom to name but a few. What’s wrong with broadcasting an entire concert as programmed? As far as I can tell, apart from the !st Night they haven’t broadcast (on TV) a single concert from this season in full
