I discovered this week that another sonically excellent and favourite record was mastered by Bernie Grundman not remastered but the original master so I thought it might be interesting to compile a list of our favourite Grundman masters (not remasters).
I’ll start with.

Yes I’ve been trawling through them lots of obscurities and some real surprises like a couple of Dead Kennedys albums.
I’ve found another couple of surprise (to me anyway) Grundman masters which where no surprise as they are both fantastic sounding records first up is actually a Chris Bellman cut at BG’s studio further investigations show that the Artic Monkey’s second record Favourite Worst Nightmare and 2009’s Suck It and See where both mastered by the excellent George Marino at Sterling Sound.
Next up is Dr Dre’s The Chronic an incredible sounding record.
So as a wider experiment I’ve started picking sonically excellent records in my collection and checking the mastering engineer.
Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories was mastered by Bob Ludwig.
