A couple go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and order the ‘Chicken Surprise’, the waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot.
Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down.
‘Good grief, did you see that?’ she asks her husband.
He hasn’t, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down.
Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation.
‘Please sir,’ says the waiter, ‘What did you order?’
The husband replies, ‘Chicken Surprise.’
‘Ah! I’m so sorry,’ says the waiter, ‘I brought you Peeking Duck.’
Again, I need some help with this.. Thanks
Hi Max, it is based on the old joke of a man walks into a bar, in this case it’s a weasel.
Lemonade etc are known by a shortened word Pop. So lemonade, shandy, coke etc are all known collectively as pop.
The barman ask the weasel what it wants, and it replies “pop”
As you have seen Pop Goes The Weasel was a child’s rhyme in the 19th century, but it became a pop song in the 1960s and very familiar to many Forum members when they were very young.
It goes seem to have caused confusion for our Continental Forum Members
Best wishes and hoping that you are well
Ian
We have Masterchef, you have Masterchef Italia.
One of the longstanding presenters of Masterchef has been binned for numerous occasions of very poor behaviour over a period of many years.
His co-presenter has also been removed for allegedly saying something a little inappropriate at a private event nearly 10 years ago which no-one can remember happening and is contesting it.
The BBC, for all it’s achievements otherwise, is sometimes accused of displaying Muppet Show levels of cohesion and competence in some quarters, so the chaotic Swedish chef from said tv show is deemed a suitable replacement.
Eh?

Emma Raducanu. Seems to be taking a lot of goes at finding a coach she likes…She’s gone through nine since turning Pro just four years ago.
Thanks for that. Not a tennis fan.

I may have replied to the wrong question , but Jamie has answered it, it is about Muppets … and the Swedish chef
Best wishes
Ah, the Muppets… Ok, I’m closer ![]()
Best wishes to you too and a lovely Sunday to all.
I knew the Earth was flat but finding out that it is square comes as a big shock!
Turn the level round 180° and you’ll likely find it’s now got a slight slope.
