I was just listening to to some Glenn Miller”essentials”–wonderful stuff I grew up listening to via the radio in my father’s Chevy.

This disc may have been recorded in 1983 but it’s still The Glen Miller Band and all/most of the original arrangements, plus it’s a fabulous recording:
Slightly tacky cover design, though I can think of at least one president who would probably love it.
l have this. The cover is as old and tatty as me, but the very heavy duty vinyl is almost click free.

@MEI47 the very apex of big band music in the 1940s and 50s is the Duke Ellington orchestra, specifically the early 40s band featuring Jimmy Blanton and Ben Webster. Unsurpassed.
Ellington continued to make fabulous big band music into the 1950s and beyond.
Don’t forget to check out the Count Basie band either- now they SWING!
