Well this really bums me out. ![]()
Very sad news - I hadn’t read that he was ill.
Really sad news. RIP Bobby.
Sunshine daydream
Walkin’ in the tall trees
Goin’ where the wind goes
Blooming like a red rose
Breathing more freely
Light out singing, I’ll walk you in the morning sunshine
Sunshine daydream
A great life lived and left a great musical legacy, r.i.p Mr Weir.
Sad, saw the Dead 8 times or so, he was great within them the perfect foil for Garcia. Wrote some good songs, Cassidy perhaps my favourite. Not a fan of him in Dead and Co., but a sad loss.
Such sad news
R.I.P Bob
This is indeed, sad news. Grateful Dead have been a constant on my turntable / CDP / Streamer since I first heard ‘Live/Dead’ shortly after its release. A chapter ends and a new journey begins. It really has been a long, strange trip. RIP Bobby.
I only saw the Dead once, about 40 years ago in London, great gig and great band. RIP Bob, I’ve been listening to some music, and this is now stuck in my head:
“I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And listen to the ripples as they moan
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And sing me a song of my own
Black muddy river, roll on forever
I don’t care how deep or wide if you’ve got another side
Roll muddy river, roll muddy river
Black muddy river, roll”
RIP
Here’s an article about him in the Guardian, rather than an obit.
I’ve posted this before but, given the news, the last few minutes of the last song - Ripple - are incredibly poignant and very moving.
I’ve been listening to almost only The Grateful Dead for at least two decades.
Torrent was my best friend to get the live tapes of the Dead Concerts.
RiP Bob
Halloween 1990 - a fantastic night, the only time I ever got to see them live.
Another sad loss to the Dead family.
