Saddened to hear of Bonnie Tyler’s passing this morning, have fond memories of blasting Total Eclipse of the Heart out of the car stereo as I drove around, enjoyed her other hits as well.
R.I.P. Bonnie, you’ll be missed.

No-one quite like her. Total Eclipse seems to have become her signature tune but, for me, she’ll always be Holding Out For A Hero. A gloriously silly song which would have fallen flat with a singer who wasn’t willing or able to nail it to the wall. And she did.

Although I never bought any of her music, I did respect her a lot and, I always preferred “Holding Out For a Hero” too.

She will be sadly missed particularly in Wales where if Tom Jones is King then Bonnie was Queen.
There is no denying her voice she could belt out a song very well indeed. Years ago I was reluctantly persuaded by an ex-girlfriend to go to one of her concerts. In actual fact it was a great night she was an excellent entertainer and quite funny too.
Although she had much bigger songs my favourite of hers is “Lost in France” a lower key song but she gave it real feeling.
She may not be everyone’s taste but it is impossible to deny her success so many downloads of her popular songs and many successful studio albums.

I totally agree with everyone great voice and quite a good catalogue of songs as well sadly another one taken from us

Her characteristic husky voice was the result of a vocal cord operation she had in the 1970s. Lost in France predates that, and the difference is striking
The operation certainly changed her voice but if you listen to her first studio album where Lost in France can be found on other songs the husky/gravely voice is at least in part there. An example is the song Piece of my Heart or the tittle track The World Starts Tonight and others on the same album.
Perhaps some tracks on the album where recorded after the OP?
The album is a different set of songs though that most does not mean she is belting any of them out like her later style. Its still unmistakably Bonnie.
